Continuum Model Of Supervision Essay
I am grateful to have the opportunity for our department for having a supervision course for us especially in our profession. I haven’t heard about any other supervision courses in a speech program unless I am not knowledgeable about them. I was excited about the course in the beginning of the fall semester because I knew one-day I wanted to take a leadership role in whatever setting I am partake. These courses were helpful especially if deciding be in a leadership position such as area managers, director of rehab, clinical directors, compliance managers, SLP leads, etc. I know it may not be required to go back to school for a leadership position, but I feel it should be some requirements especially in other professions. Since becoming a therapist 3 years ago, I have experience a lot of issues working with area managers and rehab directors because of them not being competent in their job description, unorganized, and lacking interpersonal skills. …show more content…
If I want to be an effective supervisor, I know that I learned that having critical thinking and problem skills are important, being a communicator is vital, and giving guidance to supervisees. These supervision courses also made me learn what kind of supervisory style that I possess, the different models of supervision that I can follow such as the collaborative style from the Anderson’s Continuum Model of Supervision and or the system approach. Everything that was taught to me in this course I will use the tools and apply it in my work setting.
