A) PRODUCT NAME AND NAME’S MEANING

The product I chose is Microsoft’s XBOX ONE. The name of the product is divided in two parts (“Xbox” and “One”). “Xbox” has its origins on Microsoft Windows’ history; the bit of Microsoft’s Windows software that handles the graphics is called ‘DirectX’, and when Microsoft got interested in videogame consoles in 2001, they wanted a ‘DirectX box’ for the graphics. The “One” means: an all-in-one entertainment hub. All of your entertainment devices controlled through ONE single device.

B) HISTORY OF THE INVENTOR OR OWNER OF THE PRODUCT
The Xbox One was invented by Microsoft, which was founded by Bill Gates and Paul Allen (who resigned from his position on the Microsoft Board of Directors in 2000). The three Xbox consoles (Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One) were made under Gates’ steps. Bill Gates is an American investor, computer programmer, inventor, and philanthropist. Gates is one of the best-known entrepreneurs of the personal computer revolution. He is consistently ranked in the Forbes list of the world's wealthiest people. During his career at Microsoft, Gates held the positions of CEO and chief software architect, and remains the largest individual shareholder, with 6.4 percent of the common stock. He has also authored and co-authored several books. Gates stepped down as chief executive officer of Microsoft in January 2000. He remained as chairman and created the position of chief software architect for himself. In June 2006, Gates announced that he would be transitioning from full-time work at Microsoft to part-time work, and full-time work at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. He gradually transferred his duties to Ray Ozzie, chief software architect, and Craig Mundie, chief research and strategy officer. Gates's last full-time day at Microsoft was June 27, 2008. He stepped down as chairman of Microsoft in February 2014, taking on a new post as technology advisor to support newly appointed CEO Satya Nadella. C) HISTORY OF THE COMPANY OF THE PRODUCT

Microsoft Corporation is an American multinational corporation headquartered in Redmond, Washington, that develops, manufactures, licenses, supports and sells computer software, consumer electronics and personal computers and services. Its best known software products are the Microsoft Windows line of operating systems, Microsoft Office office suite, and Internet Explorer web browser. Its flagship hardware products are Xbox game console and the Microsoft Surface series of tablets. It is the world's largest software maker measured by revenues. Microsoft was founded by Bill Gates and Paul Allen on April 4, 1975 to develop and sell BASIC interpreters for Altair 8800. It rose to dominate the personal computer operating system market with MS-DOS in the mid-1980s, followed by the Microsoft Windows. The company's 1986 initial public offering, and subsequent rise in its share price, created an estimated three billionaires and 12,000 millionaires from Microsoft employees. It is considered the third most successful startup company of all time by market capitalization, revenue, growth and cultural impact. Since the 1990s, it has increasingly diversified from the operating system market and has made a number of corporate acquisitions. In May 2011, Microsoft acquired Skype Technologies for $8.5 billion in its largest acquisition to date.

D) VISION AND THE MISSION OF THE COMPANY
Microsoft's mission statement for the Xbox One is "to provide fun online gaming and interactive gameplay for any age group”. The vision is that every person can be a creator, hat every Xbox One can be used for development. That every game and experience can take advantage of all of the features of Xbox One and Xbox LIVE. E) MARKET SEGMENTATION AND MARKET...
