1. Construction robotics (Automated bricklaying system)
Construction robotics is a New York based company founded in 2007 with the aim of improving the construction industry with automation and robotics technology and the principles of manufacturing. ( http://www.construction-robotics.com). The company was co-founded by chairman Nate Podkaminer and president Scott Peters. Nate is an Architect while Scott has held various engineering and management roles and they have both have 40years and 14years experience in the field. The company has struggled over the last 11years developing new technologies for advancing the construction sector using Automation and Robotics to ensure effective and efficient delivery of construction work.

According to Construction Robotics, the robot can place up to 300 and 400 bricks in an hour using the combination of its conveyor belt, robotic arm, and concrete pump. Compared to human, which cannot lay above 75 bricks in one hour. The robot can also lay bricks in both standard and soldier courses with little help from a human mason or technician who inputs the required information. SAM has to its credit a number of prominent projects such as The Laboratory School in Washington, DC, and also worked with contracting firms like Wasco and Clark Construction to save slow projects as the industry suffers shrinkage in workforce due to aging of skilled workers. Benefits of SAM is that the robot works collaboratively with the mason, reduce health and safety impact of the workforce, improved ability to plan and quote jobs, good precision and accuracy, consistent production and lower installation cost, reduce waste, production data that helps with continuous improvements and it increases masons productivity by up to 3-5x while reducing lifting by 100%.
Although a similar innovation was invented in 1967 named MOTOR MASON, which moved on rails parallel to a wall applying mortar and laying bricks. The motor mason was about 5-10 times faster than humans were, but could not stand the

Caterpillar is a US based company notable for the manufacture of machinery for various industries such as construction, mining, agriculture etc. Although the company was founded in 1925, but the trademark was not used until 1949 when it started displaying its products at the machine trade. Caterpillar has a range of machines applicable to the construction industry ranging from hydraulic excavators to loaders, cranes, swamp dozers, trucks etc. only to mention a few. CAT is the largest producer of wheel loader in the world. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caterpillar_Inc.).
The company has continues to gear improvement in the construction industry through its innovation and technology. Some of the advancement in technology through automation and robotics at Caterpillar is the unveiling of the autonomous and semi-autonomous machinery useful for both the construction and other industries. One of the recent, innovation of Caterpillar is the CONEXPO (see pictures below) was launched in 2017. CONEXPO allows the operator to be safe away from the machine at the comfort of the control station or 1000ft distance away from the equipment using command and remote control system. This however, have no influence whatsoever on the consistence efficiency
