INTRODUCTION
The company has been awarded a prestigious contract of building 500 m length pre-stressed concrete bridge on a national highway crossing the major river.

Pre-stressed Concrete is an architectural and structural material possessing great strength. The unique characteristics of pre-stressed concrete allow predetermined, engineering stresses to be placed in members to counteract stresses that occur when the unit is subjected to service loads. This is accomplished by combining the best properties of two quality materials: high strength concrete for compression and high tensile strength steel strands for tension. Pre-stressed Concrete Bridges are economical than any other kind of bridges. They need low, initial cost and low maintenance. It has long life expectancy.

The proposed site has to mobilize with material, resources, basic infrastructure, workforce etc. The mobilization of each item should be done in such a way that the project is completed without any time/cost over run. Output of the work depend upon how best the activities are managed which will vary from site to site based on many factors. Due to cultivation on both sides of highway, very restricted space of 100m in width and 300m in length is available on both sides of highway. Items to mobilise at sites given in this assignment are: 350 Tons of Cement and 300 Tons of Steel. 2-size II Crawler Tractor Dozer, one mobile crane, one JCB, ten dumpers Labour force of 100 men Site office complete with communication setup Details plan for site organization, layout, communication systems, legal and local formalities, monitoring and reporting procedures are discussed in subsequent sections.

The mentioned condition for proposed site is, wind is from west to east and the bridge direction is east-west. Direction of wind is a load factor and it needs consideration while design and construction. Design considerations of bridge structure with regard to direction of bridge will also be discussed.

SITE ORGANIZATION
A well-planned site organization plays a major part in determining the success of a construction project. Since construction projects may be managed by a spectrum of participants in a variety of combinations, the organization for the management of such projects may vary from case to case. There are principally three different types of project organizations namely: 1. Functional organization 2. Divisional organization 3. Matrix Organization For this project we have chosen matrix organization. Matrix organization is task oriented. In this form there are two different categories. One at a lower level are recruited for particular project and the one at higher levels are deputed by other functional departments of the organization on ad hoc basis until the project is completed. Matrix organization has following advantages: • • • Flexibility in deployment of resources. Optimum and the effective use of equipment and scarce specialist skill. Better opportunity for career growth.
