• Working at height: XXX describes that working at height includes any workplace has the potential of personal fall of a distance that is sufficient to cause personal injury whether this workplace is at ground level or below it. However, most of the resources including XX_____XX mention any work activity which is 2 m and above from the floor surface as working at height.

Falling is the major cause of accidental fatalities as it causes about 50% of the total fatalities in construction industry XXX.

Although, there are differences in the height of working position but the consequences of falling from height always end with unwanted results. So precautions are required to control or reduce the falling risk to as low as reasonable practicable level.

XXX requires a hierarchy systematic controlling for working at height as:
- It must avoid working at height when possible like use of …………..
- prevent falls whither by reduce the distance and consequences through safe work equipment (eg scaffold) or personal protective equipments.

For providing safe means of access and work equipment some areas need to be considered like distance and consequence of fall, duration of job, people required to work, space available to work, type of work, risks, weather conditions, emergency and rescue procedure.
Controls:
• Steps to be taken before working at height:
1. Eliminate the full job if possible and avoid working at height
2. Substitute and chose of the best and safest equipment to make the work done
3. Suitability of the equipment chosen to the workplace
4. Delivered on time and workplace condition is prepared
5. Assess the knowledge of the personnel who carry on the job
6. Equipment condition to be assessed and supervised
7. Ensure the delivery of proper training and supervision
8. Keep a backup personnel to help for any required modifications and maintenance
9. Ensure and test the procedure of rescuing and emergency situation
