Cons Of Animal Testing
In this essay I will be discussing whether I think it is necessary to test chemicals on animals for the sake of humans. There are a countless number of pros and cons that I will be discussing in this essay. I will discuss with you some of the pros of testing on animals.
Some people believe that it is necessary to test chemicals on living harmless animals; they trust that it is the right thing to do as it helps researchers to find drugs and treatments; this then helps researchers in finding drugs to advance health and medicine which could cure many diseases that are life threatening and could cause death.
Many medical treatments have been made possible by animal testing; including cancer and HIV drugs, insulin, antibiotics, vaccines and many

If the vaccines were not tested on the animals, a lot of them could have suffered painful and slow deaths from diseases such as rabies, infectious hepatitis virus, anthrax and feline leukaemia; certain cures were also discovered through the testing of animals. Another strong highlight to mention would be that testing on animals have stopped certain animals becoming extinct ; this is why most companies and organisations believe that animal experimentation is a benefit rather than a negative.
There are many pros within animal testing but there are also numerous cons as well on testing chemicals and drugs on innocent animals. One of the reasons a lot of people are against animal testing is because most of the animals that are tested on are kept in captivity or they could cross paths with the worst situation and in this case that would be death. In animal testing, many animals are experimented on and then killed after the companies are finished with them. Others are severely injured and will then still live the remainder of their lives in captivity which is an unpleasant thought for some

In my opinion I believe that it is okay to a certain extent to be testing chemicals on animals because it is helping to create medicine which helps humans in the long run but I believe that companies and organisations shouldn’t have the right to test chemicals and substances on the life of an innocent animal for the sake of cosmetics, which in my opinion is not needed for anything helpful.
I got most of my information from trustworthy websites, I researched the pros and cons of animal testing on the internet and came across some webpages that were really helpful and useful for the data I have mentioned within the essay. The websites that were very helpful to me were these websites: - http://animal-testing.procon.org/, http://medicinalanimalexperimentationpointlesscrueltyornecessaryevil.weebly.com/pros-and-cons.html,

Overall, animal testing is erroneous because it does not contribute anything meaningfully to the world. When animals are tested often the results are irrelevant, due to the fact, animals have many differences from humans. Also, the animals endure poor conditions. Lastly, the animals’ lives are wasted by being tested on products that are not important. Testing animals is abusive and needs to…

An issue that many people debate is if animal testing should remain legal or be banned. Did you know that Europe, which is the world’s biggest cosmetic producer, banned animal testing for cosmetics (11 Facts About Animal Testing)? Sure, animal testing has made some great medical breakthroughs like insulin. There are also downfalls to animal testing. One example is that the experimenters are torturing the animals and the test subjects are painfully tested on. These reasons show that animal testing should be banned, it harms animals, there are better options, and animals and humans are very different.…

The first reason why we shouldn’t have animal testing is because animals are getting hurt or abused. “Over 100 million animals are burned, crippled, poisoned, and abused in US labs every year.” The chemicals that the people are using are burning or other worse things to them. The chemicals that they use on the animals could hurt or kill them. Over half of side effects cannot be detected in…

My first reason is testing animals helps put an end to human suffering. According to an article on Controversy of Animal Testing, "It is preferred that animals suffer as opposed to a human, with the aim of reducing human suffering." I agree that without knowing if a cosmetic would be safe would create more human suffering. Without knowing if a chemical could kill you or physically harm you or not would a really bad thing. And think about it if animals weren't our "test dummies" then we could be washing our face with a face cleanser and our skin could just come off, or we could get really sick from chemicals.…

“Examples of medications that have been the result of animal testing are Penicillin, several asthma treatments, cancer and HIV drugs, vaccines, antibiotics, and insulin (Occupy Theory, 1).” Since there can be new medications found from utilising this form of testing, many people see it as beneficial to the human population. Since it’s more beneficial to humans than it is a bigger hurt to the animal species, most people believe that animal testing is okay. But, according to William H. Farland and Vicki Vaughn-Dellarco, “Abelson comments that laboratory studies of chemicals and their use in risk assessment have not been shown to have substantially benefited human health (1908).” I had interviewed my AP Biology teacher Mr. Nolan Flores. He teaches regents biology, AP biology, and astronomy. Mr. Flores even teaches animal behaviors in biology so he has a basic knowledge of animals. When I had interviewed Mr. Flores he had talked about his personal view on animal testing. He concurred with the prior statement that if it is more beneficial to test on an animal because it could save someone's life, then he is for animal testing. For him, he also stated that it depends on the situation and if the testing is ethical or not. If it involves cruel or unusual punishment to the animal, then he is against…

FIX:Everyone loves animals! They are soft, loveable, and good hearted. Knowing that animals are so innocent, it is astonishing that scientists all over the world have been using animals for medical purposes. The medical purposes are mostly experiments to find cures for diseases or ailments in humans. There has been quite a bit of controversy as to why Animal Testing has to be done at all. There are so many animals out there who are used, hurt, and experimented on. A highly debated argument in today’s society is animal research and testing. There is much controversy surrounding the issue not only within biology, but general ethics as well. Some people feel that animal research is ethical because it furthers human well-being, as well as provides mechanisms to cure disease. Other people, however, believe animal research is not ethical because the treatment of the animal is inhumane, unnecessary, and non consensual. I personally feel that animal testing is very important in the world of medical research and should continue.…

Europe, which has the largest cosmetics market in the world, along with Israel, and India all have banned animal testing for cosmetics. They also banned the sale and import of newly animal tested beauty products (“11 Facts About Animal Testing”). The US should follow in the footsteps of these countries to help reduce animal testing rates. There are also some alternative testing options that don’t require animals to be used all the time (“In Testing | Alternatives to Animal Testing and Research”). Animal testing shouldn’t be continued, because the drugs produced from it rarely work, it’s cruel and inhumane, and it’s an expensive process.…

One more reason I am against the use of animals for product testing is because of the cost of it. Animal testing generally costs an enormous amount of money, as the animals must be fed, housed, cared for and treated with drugs or a similar experimental substance. On top of that, animal testing may occur more than once and over the course of months, which means that additional costs are acquired. The price of animals themselves must also be factored into the equation. There are companies who breed animals specifically for testing and animals can be purchased through them.…

Animal Experimentation is bad because you're putting all of these chemicals on these poor animals and they can die from this. I think that Animal Experimentation should be illegal everywhere. Animal testing is outdated and cruel. Almost every disease has been researched at some point using animals as models. They might change animal testing and start using a chip. Animal is testing is legal as long as its reasonable. They are not going to be using the chimpanzees to test products on anymore. Animals have probably been involved in experiments for HIV/AIDS, Cancer, Alzheimer's, and etc. Almost every disease have been researched at some point using animals as models. They still test cosmetics on animals in canada because it is legal to test them on animals. You can kill several animals by testing these products on animals. Overall i think they need to stop Animal testing and find a different way to test these…

Every year remarkable breakthroughs in medicine are occurring and we can give thanks to animal testing for being the reason for many of them. Animal testing can be essential to providing important information needed to move forward with experiments and new medicine. While some believe that animal testing is wrong, it is necessary, as long as the animals are treated with care, because it provides beneficial insight into humans, and it could lead to cures for certain illnesses.…

Those who are in favor of animal testing justify it many different ways. Thomas Hamm, a toxicologist and veterinarian, argues that, “We can’t protect the environment, or people in general, without doing some animal testing. If you’re pro-environment but opposed to animal testing, you’re on shaky ground, because the two positions just aren’t compatible with each other” (Fano, 44). In order to have a safe and successful society, he argues, we must use animals to test chemicals, drugs, treatments, and anything else that will further our knowledge of improving the world, at least for humans. Many people are of the same mind as Hamm. Animal testing reduces the risks of many products, like cosmetics and medication, among many others. Scientists can put safety standards in place for products based on their findings via animal testing. Often, animals will react badly or even die from certain chemicals or combinations, make the humans that use the products…
