Genocide. The deliberate and systematic extermination of a natural, racial,political, or cultural group. This word is used in historical evants all the time depending on the brutality of the event. Some Nations around the world even have recent events of mass-killings/genocide. One of the many is the little province located Africa called the Congo. This land has been in dispute since the tribes of Katanga found out about the congo’s rich mineral soil in the late 1800’s. Since then there have been many accounts of other countries going their to seek the riches of diamonds, gold,copper, and magnesium. For example in the 1890’s the katangons king Misiri was shot by belgiums who couldn’t win him off with rum. Which led to the later extermination of that same tribe. Later on down the line in the 1960’s Congo finally gained there independence but following the independence two more wars struck out that were very brutal. The main fighting in the congo occurs because of the constent competition over the land and the minerals held in that land. But the main downfall of the congo was during the 1990’s to 2000’s because at one point in the time the government mining company controlled it and at the peaks it was the biggest mining operation in the continent. On average they would get 2.2 billion but dude to theivary from a greedy dictator Mobutu killed the industy and in 1988 alone he stole 400 million. With a very corrupted government the congo slowly started to fall apart. With no government leadership many tribes start to become self –governing. With the addition of tribes small militias started to form. These militias were very corrupt and very disturbed people. These militias would go from town to town taking any valueable items and raping the people. Not only that but they also would murder all the villagers that they could get too. The children were taken and used as soliders for these militias. They would used different drugs and alcohol to brain wash...
