The concept of powerlessness is lacking power, strength, even to go far as being weak or feeble. Powerlessness in organizations can be very harmful in many ways. Interpersonal barriers are described as preconceived notions, which hinder the listener from the sender due to before hand judgment of the sender. In chapter 11, (Schermerhorn, Osborn, Uhl-Bien, pg246) physical distraction is described as interruptions from noises, visitors and the like, that interfere with communication. Lastly semantic barriers, which are explained as giving off mixed signals in the work place and or poor choice of words, used to other co-workers.
The term feedback is a response from recipient back to its sender; in order for feedback to be effective and constructive it must also be direct, specific and in a timely matter. In the context of interpersonal communication, feedback would be difficult due to the fact that individuals would not hear to the feedback because of personal reasons.
