Conflict Resolution
Conflict Resolution
A snap shot some of the potential issues that we can face as a team, and how we can effectively resolve and or prevent them. We will also explore how some of the negative issues and behaviors can affect us as a team.
Team member does not submit portion of assignment When a team has been faced with a group assignment and one or more fails to do their part, you have to start with assessing the situation has there been significant and adequate communication between all of the participants? Are there valid reasons for why they failed to do their portion of the assignment? Should there be significant justification for their failure to do their part of the assignment, I would communicate that to the instructor and ask if we could have an extension to allow the other party to complete their portion based on unusual circumstances.
Team member who does not meet deadlines In order to hold each team member accountable, we have to set ground rules, such as when will the assignment be expected back for team review? We will set a 6pm deadline which gives us significant time to submit the assignment on time. Should anyone fail to meet the deadline , the designated party will attempt contact with the late party to verify if the assignment has been finished and when we can expect the work to be submitted.
Team member who wants to control the completion of all assignments
We have several team members who would like to take on the exclusive leadership role, in order to maintain the fairness of the process we should draw numbers and the person draws the lowest numbers would then be the primary decision maker on the scheduling on the assignment.

Team member submits work below standards
Should there be a team member who submits work that is below standards, the team leader should speak to them regarding a resubmission of the assignment. In the beginning of the assignment there should have been communicated standards of the expectation regarding each

Homework assignments and projects will be group work. But, no free riders please! Every one in the group should contribute equally. Even though in general each member in a group will get the same grade as others, if a certain member did not do his/her share, the other group members could remove him/her from the group and this individual would obtain zero grade. The instructor may also demand the group members to state their individual contributions to the project/assignment in order to determine a fair distribution of the grades.…

The writer of this papers project team took these guidelines into consideration when determining how to complete the project team paper. Some of the codes of ethics for the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) are quite comparable to some of the ethics this project team used when writing this paper. In ACM’s code of ethics it states to “honor contracts, agreements, and assigned responsibilities”. The first task of the project team is to review the assignment due and then decide how to break down the task within the assignment to ensure completion. It is very important for project team members to agree to and complete the portions they are responsible for. When one or two of the project team members fail to uphold their responsibilities it makes the work more difficult for the rest of the team as well as more stressful. The project team assessed the assignment and delegated duties to each individual. Included with this were meeting times, topic follow ups, and discussion finalizing the topic and direction of the paper. In the spirit of positive relationships, a verbal agreement was reached and none of the parties deemed it necessary to sign written contracts. To ensure proper completion of the paper, deadlines were set to guarantee time allowed for any revisions to be implemented if necessary. All project team members with the exception of one honored the time schedules set and responsibilities to the project team.…

The team was ineffective during the quiz night when some of the team members were not doing anything to help or were not doing their tasks in the event. There are many things to consider when something goes wrong when you are a part of a team or group. The first thing I would do is make sure that the deadline was known and that the team member understood the deadline and what was supposed to be completed. If there was a misunderstanding then I would make sure that the rest of the team didn’t have the same misunderstanding about the deadlines and their importance. This situation is especially true for me and this assignment. I was late in submitting my portion and it has put team members in this exact scenario. The way I would handle this with myself, is to make sure I know how important deadlines are and how the impact the work of the rest of the team. I would let myself know that people are relying on me to have my portion of a project or assignment done in order for their portions to be implemented and the final project to be completed. In order to avoid this in the future, I will make sure that I keep track of all deadlines and schedule my time…

Christine was elected team coordinator of her OB group. The group of five students was tasked to analyzing a seven page case and to come up with a written analysis. Also, the team has to share their findings of resolution with the rest of the class. Based on the case, the team seemed to be not functioning well in their informal meeting. How to divide the assignment up among group members was another issue the group had to overcome. Once we decided the part that each group member would complete, each member completed his or her part and submitted as his or her part of the final assignment. When a portion of the assignment was published, each group member would give their thoughts, ideas, and opinions on any changes that might need to be made. In order for this to work, all members agreed that critiques or criticism must be made in a positive manner.…
