Conflict in Bend it Like Beckham

One of the objects I decided to add to my median was a breast cancer symbol. This symbol became a part of my life when I was little, because of the disease that impacted my family. I chose to specifically put this on my cross, because my mom always states, “Once it happens, it can never go away, it becomes part of you.” I feel as if it became more part of my background then heritage, mainly because not everyone in my family has had cancer. My mom is my true inspiration, because she proved that if times are tough you need to always find the light at the end of the tunnel. Without the effect that cancer put on my family, I feel we wouldn’t have become as close as we are today. If someday I wanted to have a tattoo I would chose to put a breast cancer symbol, because every time I would be having a bad day I could look down and see that symbol, and find the light at the end of the tunnel. I also feel that it has taught me not to take each moment for granite and when something good happens that I need to take it and run with it. I just always remember there is a blessing in disguise and that with a bad there is a good and with a good comes a bad.
Another object I chose to attach to my cross was an anchor. The anchor is a part of my culture, and makes up my life because it symbolizes one of my families favorite bible verses, which is, “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure” Hebrews 6:19 This represents my families background, because as Christians we believe that the Lord will always be there to help guide us to the road in which He has chosen for us. But we also need to understand that He is not always there to guide us through every obstacle we face in life, and this is why He provides us with this anchor in our soul, which will allow one to be able to make it through the hard times, and scary moments that will occur in a human’s lifetime.
