Concentration Camp Research Paper

During the Holocaust, over 6 million Jewish citizens were slaughtered due to anti-Semitism Europe (Rodriguez). Majority of this mass homicide took place inside the devils’ slaughterhouse;Concentration camps. Concentration camps were developed to ensure the mistreatment of Jews in places such as Auschwitz. To begin, “Concentration camps were established in 1933 for the confinement of opponents of the Nazi party” (Concentration Camp). Out of all of the people sent to concentration camps, Jews made up the majority. As the war progressed, three types of concentration camps came to exist. The first type of camps were prison camps. Prison camps were designed to hold prisoners of war, communists, and social democrats (Concentration Camp). These camps were not nearly as bad as the other two camps since some of the prisoners could be exchanged for other prisoners of war. However, these prisoners did receive less food than those in other camps. The second type of camp was the forced labor camps. All of the people in these
Millions of Jewish civilians died in concentration camps due to the cruelty of the Nazi party (Rodriguez). “Jews were subject to beatings and harassment like the cutting of their beards” (Rodriguez). They were given meager rations of watery soup and bread, but it never put a stop to their starvation. According to Rodriguez, men often had no sleeping quarters, were not able to shower, and were almost never fed their tiny rations of food. Because of the lack of sanitation and food, diseases such as typhus spread throughout the camps. Furthermore, they were expected to work extremely physically demanding jobs despite their lack of nourishment and health. In fact, their mistreatment and work was specifically designed to weaken them until they died. Finally, the Jewish people were kept in a constant state of terror never knowing if they would live to see the next day
