Executive Summary
This is an analysis study done for the “RAINBOW” digital color lab which is going to be opened soon in Colombo City. The main reason of this analysis is to identify and recommend
Computer systems, software and peripheral components which will be needed for the employees of the lab for their daily work. Also policies were recommended for security and safety of the computers use, Data backup policy and the health and safety of the employee.
A study was done for the work done by each employee on their computer systems and this study was used to identify a suitable computer system, Software and other peripheral devices for the employee.
Branch manager was recommended with a laptop, because being the most responsible person he/she needs to have all the details of the lab on his/her fingertips. Also the portability of the laptop can easy his/her work by taking it to meetings for presentation.
Accountants, system admin and front desk officers where recommended with desktop computers. These employees are people who are responsible to do the daily routine work other than the branch manager and the designers. Black and white laser printer (3 in 1) is shared between all these employees including the branch manager,
The core group of people in the lab, Designer are recommended with high performance systems with HD graphic and dual monitors for each designer. Designers need to work on large images which will be as much as large in size, which will take much space in the processer as well as in the hard drive. For this reason they were recommended with the latest i7 processer computer system. The latest graphic designing applications like adobe® creative suite® and
CorelDRAW X6 was also recommended as a needed application especially for the designing team. Security of the computer, the networks and health of the employees were also kept in mind and detail policies where compiled each area.
