Computer Engineering Purpose Statement
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Attending Asia’s largest science and technical festival at Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay and being alongside some of the brightest, talented and competitive talent from across the continent fired me up. Computer Engineering was my choice. Post 12th standard board exam results, when distinction marks resulted in several options I chose this field. Interest, omnipresence and success of individuals in the field led to this choice. However, the success was heady and I did not follow through with effort and performance. The jolt of the first year results and the reality check and anticipation of opportunities that the TechDefence festival inculcated put me back on track.

Alongside that I have also completed projects that have helped me discover what I want to do with my professional career. These experiences have also led to identification of the path to get there. Projects that were multidisciplinary while being part of subject requirement commenced with the 4th semester. The first one I embarked on was an Online Railway Reservation System. In a team of two, we did object oriented analysis and came up with the entire Software development life cycle for designing and developing the application. Going through the process, showcased the long term nature of software engineering and also its comprehensive nature. The scope, and interplay with marketing and management was also very interesting to me. Inclination towards software engineering developed with this …show more content…
We strictly followed MVC (Model View Controller) design pattern. This project included various functionalities like Managing garbage collection, Managing Citizen’s complaints, Tracking of Citizen’s complaints and Waste disposal for the entire city. Doing the project augmented with my learning online and in the first years, put in place a confidence that I can and will achieve. This also put greater ambition in me. For the past months I have been working as an android application developer at Amar Technolabs Pvt Ltd. I am working with the professional developers who are making various kind of web and mobile applications. This stint has given me invaluable practical experience. It has also given me the confidence to pursue master’s degree and also desire to do research. I want to emerge as a Software Project Manager in an Indian multinational within the next few years and then eventually set up my own
