Also in the music video of the pop artist, Katy Perry, called “THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY”, the same journeys are represented in both texts in the one including emotional mourning, loneliness and the journey of life. “THE CATCHER IN THE RYE” and “THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY” portrays emotional journeys of mourning the loss of a loved one. This occurs when Holden is recovering in a mental hospital potentially from the mourning of his little brother Allie. Allie has played a large part in Holden's life. He was one of Holden's first experiences with death and Holden may have never had to deal with the loss of a loved one before. Holden had to miss the funeral for Allie due to the injuries in his hand; he was in the hospital getting his hand fixed. This may have caused him to not let go of the experience properly hence, Holden’s journey of mourning was extended. J. D. Salinger shows this multiple times in the book, but especially when all Holden could think about, when he was about to write a descriptive paper for Straddler, was Allie’s baseball mitt, “The thing was, I couldn’t think of a house or anything to describe…. So I wrote it about my Brother Allie’s baseball mitt”. Whilst in “THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY”, Perry shows that Katy is still, at an old age, mourning the loss of a loved one. Katy as an elderly lady, unhappy with her present situation, sits down to a cup of coffee as she agonises over the loss of her one true love Diego who had passed in her late teenage years. Therefore the journey of mourning is how journeys are represented in the text and plays an important role as parts of the main storylines.
