Call of the Wild and To Build a Fire were both exciting books about serving in the freezing cold attic yet they also have many differences. Call of the Wild is a story of a dog trying to survive the Alaskan gold rush. To Build a Fire follows a similar storyline yet it is about a man instead of a dog. Although the two books have many similarities such as where the book took place and the the style of writing they also have many differences such as the ending and the main character.…
S.E. Hinton was only 15 years old when she wrote this extremely detailed book. I liked her book a lot because of how much detail she put into it. I didn’t like the movie a lot because I was kind of expecting it to be a lot like the book but was disappointed when it left out many different parts of the book. While the book and movie have many similarities and differences, the book was more effective in telling the story.…
Ender’s Game is a novel about a child who voluntarily made the decision to military school in order to train to eventually fight in an alien invasion. When reading the novel, the reader is presented with the idea of taking someone’s childhood in order to win. When watching the movie, the viewer gets to see children fighting and preparing for a battle without knowing the overall purpose and message of the novel. Ender’s Game is asking if it is morally correct to train a child for war. In the end though, the novel shows a more fitting message than the movie portrays it.…
Typically, people these days prefer watching movies over reading books. However, it can be interesting to read a book as well as watch the movie to find similarities and differences. The novel Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, consists of two main characters: George Milton and Lennie Small. The movie, released in 1992, focuses on the same characters’ adventures working on a ranch during the Great Depression. There are some movies that are adapted from the novel such as Harry Potter, Da Vinci Code, Twilight Saga, The Hunger Games and Lagenda Budak Setan. What are the differences between watching a movie and reading a novel? There are some contrasts between the two actions. One of the differences is by watching a movie, you just need to sit and relax. It is very easy since you only need to watch it and understands it. Furthermore, you can watch the movie while doing something else such as eating or exercising. You do not really have to focus like to imagine how the atmosphere is in the movie at that time or how a person is walking down the streets. Lastly, you can avoid disbelief since it is a multi-sensory experience. On the other hand, by reading…
What I love about the The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (TLWW) is its truly beautiful and enchanting story containing a Christian allegory. The movie falters in those moments where it robs the story of its purity and truth. As a child reading the story, or having it read to you, you are taken from an ordinary world into an extraordinary one. As Lewis wrote in his essay “On Three Ways of Writing for Children” the reader of a story like TLWW “does not despise real woods because he has read of enchanted woods: the reading makes all real woods a little enchanted.”…
Where the Wild Things Are, a children’s book written by Maurice Sendak, is not only directed to young children, but has an underlying message that is intended for older generations to receive. This message, only used to enhance the meaning of the story, describes the addiction for one to have power and be in control. As the story goes on, the realization sets in that maybe the desire for power is not the best, at all times. The use of oppression becomes evident in this story, through Max, the main character, as he strives to control everything around him. Maurice Sendak uses repetition and parallelism in the imagery and text of Where the Wild Things Are to show Max’s progression to assume power and eventually discard it.…
The films, Life oh Pi and Big Fish have imaginary stories that are told through the lives of Pi Patel, and Edward Bloom. Pi Patel and Edward Bloom’s stories are very different, but at the end of both films the Japanese officials started to believe Pi. Similar to how Will Bloom, Edward’s son starts to believe the stories his father has been telling him. In each film the central theme is that the Japanese Officials and Will Bloom didn’t believe what they were hearing.…

Many movies are based on books, and in many stories the books are more detailed. There could be many differences between a book and a movie. These differences could impact the audience’s point of view. There are many differences between the book Animal Farm, and the movie, that impact the audience by changing their perspective of the book. There are many changes in the movie, but the two major changes are, the song Beasts of England, and the death of old Major.…
