Comparison Of Hurricanes And Tornadoes
Dramatic Hurricanes and Dangerous Tornadoes BOOM! A hurricane just hit in Florida! While a tornado already hit the ground in Houston Texas. Tornadoes are very destructive but hurricanes can be more destructive and kill many more people. Hurricanes are started by three seventy four mile per hour winds (Eve Perry 48). While these winds are happening they are in the center of the storm. Also the strongest winds are in the very middle of the hurricane called the “eye”(Eve Perry 48). Then tornadoes start by rapidly spinning columns of air where they start up in the air and then at some time touch the ground and start destructing things. Hurricanes and tornadoes cause so much destruction, but have u ever experienced one? Hurricanes can be more destructive and can cause about up to a billion dollars to rebuild everything. Tornadoes on the other hand happen more often then a hurricane would (Hurricane vs. Tornado). Hurricanes mostly have damage of the high winds and rains blowing off rooftops of houses and buildings. Also the intense rains can cause floods and drown people in there very own …show more content…
The most simulatie they have would be the strong rotating winds they share. They also have a huge amount of damage they can do but it all depends on the size of the hurricane and tornado. A hurricane and tornado also both have something in them which is called the “eye”. The eye is the middle of the tornado and hurricane(Hurricane Vs. Tornado). That is where the winds get stronger and more intense. Also have u ever seen three tornados in a row at the very same time? Well that can be with a hurricane to(Hurricane Vs. Tornado)! With three hurricanes it can cause more damage if there in the same place but if they are going opposite ways it can cause as much damage. If there is only one hurricane it can cause more damage same as tornados but it depends on the size and how strong it

It's easy to find similarities between the weather phenomenon, we call a hurricane and the one we call a tornado. Both cause most of their damage through high winds and rain, and the arrival of both can cause evacuations, emergency warnings and general chaos. But there are numerous differences between the two weather systems, from the elements that form them to the type of devastation they leave behind.…

Hurricanes and tornadoes are some of the most violent natural occurring disasters known to mankind. While there are many differences between the two, the stark similarities are as dramatic. Both are centered on gusting wind swirling around a center; however the diameters of the storms are quite different. While hurricanes can range from 100 to 300 miles wide, tornadoes usually have only a length of less than two miles. However, a tornado makes up for its small size with extremely high wind speeds, in excess of over 250 miles per hour. Hurricanes on the contrary have wind speeds from 74 to 160 miles per hour. To compare and to contrast hurricanes and tornadoes the main areas of interest are the creation of both disasters, and the destructive…

Hurricanes and Tornadoes may look similar at first glance, but if you look deeper you may find a few differences. To begin with, Hurricanes and tornadoes form differently. For example, tornadoes are rapidly spinning columns of air that require rain and clouds. They are also a few hundred few across (Source 3). However, hurricanes need extreme winds and flooding rains. They also need warm tropical waters and need to be near the equator (Source 4). Hurricanes and tornadoes have more differences. On one hand, the wind speeds between the two are completely different. Even though, most tornadoes have winds reaching 100 miles an hour (Source 3). On the other hand, hurricanes can go up to 150 MPH (Source 4). Hurricanes and tornadoes can both cause thousands of dollars in damage. Although, 1,300 tornadoes hit the U.S. each year with an average cost of $500 million in damage (Source 3). On the contrary, in an average three-year period, roughly five hurricanes strike the U.S. with a $15 billion in damage (Source 4). Hurricanes and tornadoes both are very dangerous, so, warning…

A hurricane and tornado both form in warm, damp air blowing from opposite ends. They both cause flash floods, mudslides and they also cause deaths. The two contain an "eye" which is the center of the destruction. They are very violent storms and produce intense low pressures. This is hard to believe but both tornadoes and hurricanes rotate clockwise in the southern hemisphere and rotate counterclockwise in the northern hemisphere.…

With Joplin Missouri having been torn apart to a total of 75% damages and hurricane Katrina devastating 80% of New Orleans it is clear that Katrina was just a little more powerful. Hurricane Katrina caused roughly $79 billion dollars more in damages. Both of these storms are very devastating and dangerous but some natural disasters are more dangerous than others. When it comes down to it water does more damage than that of the wind, however both of these are still very damaging to the nature and human made structures. In my opinion I think tornadoes are more dangerous than that of a…
