Comparing Romeo And Juliet To Modern Day
“Romeo and Juliet” is iconic all around the world because of its tragic ending that resulted in the lost lives of two “star-crossed lovers”. Many people usually don’t see how Romeo and Juliet’s times are also comparable to modern days. If Romeo and Juliet were looked at closely though, others would see multiple similarities to modern days! Romeo and Juliet’s relationship plus modern relationships have several similarities which are very surprising. First of all, in Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet fall for each other extremely quickly. Romeo and Juliet had barely enough time to get to know each other before they both got married. How can two people really love each other when they know so little about the other? The night that Romeo and Juliet first met, they fell in love when they first saw each other. When Romeo first saw Juliet, he said, “O, she doth teach the torches to burn bright! It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night like a rich jewel in an Ethiop’s ear...Did my heart love till now? Forswear it sight! For I ne’er saw true beauty till this night.” This statement from Romeo about Juliet shows that when he first saw her, he fell in love with her. In conclusion, Romeo and Juliet’s love relationship is surprisingly similar to modern day love relationships in multiple ways. The first way that Romeo and Juliet’s love relationship is similar to modern love relationships is that their relationship was extremely fast. Secondly, Romeo and Juliet’s relationship ended in tragedy, much like other modern fast relationships.
Lastly, Romeo and Juliet’s relationship is like modern love relationships because both fell in love at first sight. All in all, these two “star-crossed” lovers love relationship is surprisingly similar to modern love

    Does Romeo love Juliet?

    Does Romeo truly love Juliet? I think in this case he truly does. Love can happen in a lot of strange ways, In a blink of an eye (like with Romeo and Juliet) or it can take over 15 years (like in the movie when Harry met Sally. Although I’m pretty sure it is just Romeo and Juliet who falls in love that quickly. Romeo’s capacity of feelings is rather larger than the normal person though. When he love’s he loves, when he’s angry he kills a Capulet, when he’s sad (about Juliet) he kills himself, Sad but true. In the Beginning, Romeo is a great reader of love poetry, and wants a love that is simply perfect, but unbeknownst to him, love is never perfect. Then he goes and sees Rosaline, and she is simply the perfect girl out of the perfect book, he therefore is trying to recreate the feelings that he reads about, simply because he wanted fairytale love and therefore he is able to forget about her very quickly when he sees Juliet. His love for Juliet though, it is nothing like what he felt with Rosaline. Not the puppy-dog-crush, but a more true deep feeling, it’s “Love at first sight”. When he sees her he knows instantly that she is the girl of his dreams, and therefore goes to talk to her, or kiss her. When he does kiss her she tells him “You kiss by the book” (1, 5,110), meaning that his kisses is exactly like what she’s read about in the books, and that he should try again, but that he should be a bit more creative, but they were interrupted by the nurse maid (Thank you). So when Romeo leaves the party he says “Can I go forward when my heart is here? Turn back, dull earth, and find thy center out” (2, 1, 1-2) meaning that he knows where his heart belongs, why would he just leave? And decides to go back, and find Juliet, His Love. I still think that they were both a little too young and naïve, but they really did love each other. I know that I would not kill myself if I didn’t truly love the person, and I didn’t think I can live another day without Him, but I’m young…

    Romeo first encounters Rosaline at the masquerade ball, he cannot help feeling mesmerized by Juliet. Romeo’s fascination of her leaves him sitting by her window, feeling mesmerized by Juliet’s eyes which are “Two of the fairest stars in all the heaven...To twinkle in their spheres till they return” who leave him in a state of enchantment (2.2.15). Additionally, Romeo experiences such great elation in being in love with Juliet that he will do anything to prove it, including the act of marriage. To demonstrate Romeo’s love for Juliet will not pass, Romeo seeks Friar Lawrence and “pray[s]: That thou consent marry [them] today” (2.3.60). Just like that, it takes two days for Romeo to come across his darling and decide on marriage. The bliss Romeo senses for Juliet stands sturdier than any pain felt formerly. All in all, the physical attractiveness of Juliet and marriage, a proof of his love, shows that young love can take place in a matter of days in the form of happiness.…
