Comparing My Writing Style
Our descriptions of each writing style are very similar. An observation you made about Personal writing pattern was how the style is created is really up to the author. Persuasive and expository seem to have more defined approached because they have a specific purpose to explain or persuade. With a Persuasive writing pattern you do have to be careful of your word choices to help persuade, and also incorporating an emotional tone can help win over the audience. Expository writing style gives an explanation using factual information that is unbiased.

I also think I prefer personal writing over Expository and Persuasive because it’s easier and comes more naturally. Personal essays you don’t have to find reliable sources to cite because

Persuasive to me means to express your opinion or argue a point of view and/or idea. Expository writing is writing that explains something that is based on facts verses based on opinion. Technical writing is writing that is used primarily in engineering and scientific work, which explains procedural steps and explanations of different terminology. I feel based on the type of language used, how convincing the factual information is, and how the attitude of the author is determines the persuasiveness of the writing, so either writing could be persuasive.…

While writing my comparative essay draft, I’ve noticed a lot of things about my writing style and preparation. When I am preparing to write an essay, I noticed how much more organized I have become. Instead of jotting down every little thing that comes to mind, and rambling on and on about a subject, I can get lead into my subjects and get straight to the point. I have also taught myself a few things. I am writing about the similarities and differences between eating out and eating at home. If I did not have to write an essay about this subject, I probably wouldn’t have thought of the certain pros and cons that I did. For example, I would have never thought of the time it would take to drive to a restaurant, park, order food and then wait…

When death affects us personally, our grief seems overwhelming and irremediable. But when it affects others, we tend to distance ourselves from it. In “Ballad of Birmingham,” Dudley Randall does something news stories and textbooks cannot. He makes the sadness of an infamous tragedy vivid and heartfelt to everyone who reads it, whether they have a connection to the tragedy or not.…

Writing class in my life has always been centered on analyzing mediums such as books, articles, movies, poems, and other things of that nature. The analysis would always consist of considering both viewpoints of an argument: what the author is saying and what the author is contrasting his or her viewpoints with. In addition to this, I have always been expected to incorporate my own thoughts on the subject of analysis. I feel as if I am a very good formal writer on serious subjects, and a not-so-great writer when it comes to talking about my own opinions and thoughts on an open topic. The best writing that I have ever done and was very proud of was the final paper for my Music Education philosophy course last semester. For this assignment we were expected to research a certain pedagogy, write about it, and synthesize our own pedagogy from what we had learned about that semester about all of the different pedagogies. Over the years from my first actual writing course in 9th grade, writing to me has developed from something I did to please the teacher into…

Retrogress ten years from today I see my seven year old self sitting at the wooden dining room table in front of filling page, pencil in my right hand and yellow crayon in my left hand. Eager and ecstatic my right hand writes faster than my mind can think; seconds later my left hand colors in doodles as I gave rest to the rhetoric. (Semicolon) What could a seven year old boy be so happy about writing about though? Well, Spongebob of course.…

The Nature of a person's writing style can sometimes show more about an individual then the words they actually write, the poetic twists in sentence flow or the professional structure of their grammar. Writing styles are as unique as fingerprints and to define them can be as arduous as mastering the skills required to properly form one. In the quest to define my own style I discovered a detail that I have determined encapsulates the style with which I write; I write with passion. When I say I am a passionate writer I don't mean that I love to write but more that my level of personal affection toward the subject I am writing on directly affects the emotional nature I write in. In other words, I write more expressively and artistically the…

What does persuasive writing mean to me? It means that I cam going to try and convince my readers that my opinion is all that matters. I am going to do everything I can to persuade the reader that what I am writing is gospel. No other opinion matters but mine. I believe that a good persuasive paper should present the facts first. The writer must do his/her research before they can even present their opinion on the subject. Being knowledgeable of the topic that you are going to discuss is going to have your readers very interested because they can always, after reading your writing, always research the topic on their own.…
