Comparing Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows
Religion and art often go hand in hard. Religion provides reason for art and art provides proof for religion. Art has many different forms, for example art can be seen, heard, touched, smelt, or a combination, what makes art religious is the inspiration and motivation to create the art. Although some may be obvious to the eye that it is a religious piece, some conceal the messages and beliefs more discreetly, such as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The movie seems to be solely about occult power, but looking more into the characters, it re-enacts particular scenes that were evident in the bible. The Harry Potter books and movies withhold a Christian framework, and Christian symbols hidden in plain sight. Harry’s story is a direct parallel to the biblical history of Jesus Christ, showing symbolism of death and resurrection, and powers relating to miracles. (Need quote about art) …show more content…
This is particularly seen in the death and resurrection of Jesus. In the bible, Jesus was crucified by Pilate to save everyone from their sins, in Harry Potter, Harry sacrifices himself to Voldemort to save everyone he loves from being hurt. “You are the Chosen One?” “Of course I am,” said Harry calmly” (J.K Rowling, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, page 287). This is much like Isaiah 42:1 which says "Behold, My Servant, whom I uphold; my chosen one in whom my soul delights I have put My Spirit upon Him; He will bring forth justice to the nations.” Not only is this a parallel, but the virgin Mary is described as pure, innocent, beautiful and loving. Harry’s mothers name happened to be Lily. The meaning of the name Lily is ‘innocent, pure and beauty’, although this could be coincidental, it still appears to create a connection between the

Monty Python and the Holy Grail is a satiric comedy about the quest of King Arthur. The movie begins with Arthur, King of the Britons, searching for knights to sit with him at Camelot. Throughout his utterly ridiculous (and frankly hilarious) journey, he and his knights delve into a history of medieval events and happenings. “Why do you, as well as many, find this film so hysterical?” you may ask. Monty Python and the Holy Grail employs a variety of postmodern characteristics, not only breaking traditional rules, but making it a comedy to withstand the test of time.…

In the classic novel Fahrenheit 451, by Ray Bradbury there are many similarities to today’s world. Technology entertains many just like today. Citizens still have work, and school, but there are some things that are different. Knowledge and books are considered dangerous and creative minds are labeled crazy. I think Ray Bradbury was trying to show us how important knowledge is and if we stop using it the world will change. I think today's society is more appealing because people can be creative and not be prosecuted for it. That is why I am glad I live in today’s society.…

In the “Your a Wizard Harry “ scene from the movie Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Harry clearly make it an open pane that he wants change in his life. He does this because he is really lonely. One can see this because at the beginning of the scene, Harry is in his room on his birthday with a picture of a cake and he says “Make a wish Harry.” Because he is alone on his birthday, anyone can see he is lonely and therefore probably wants a change in environment. This also shows it is an open pane to the audience and Harry, but a hidden pane to his family, because they are too self-centered in their own lives. To continue, When Hagrid mistakes Dudley for Harry, Harry immediately comes out of his room and responses by saying “ I am” when Hagrid asks who Harry would be. Harry did not even hesitate when Hagrid asked who harry was. Harry also even does not concerned who this stranger was, because Harry wanted to be away from his aunt, uncle, and cousin. Harry’s want…

Every human being on this earth is completely different, whether people feel it is for better or worse, that is how it works and how it will always work. In the novel Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, two characters named Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy are very contrasting from each other. In fact, they are quite like enemies. For example, in their school they have four “houses” in which every student belongs to one, Harry is in Gryffindor and Draco in Slytherin, the two rivals in the school.…

On Halloween each year, my family does not go trick-or-treating. Instead, we turn off all our lights, make a couple batches of popcorn, order pizza, and sit down together in our living room to watch movies. We often watch more than one movie on this special night. Last year, we decided to watch Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, and Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Sea of Monsters. My siblings and I had read and loved the books, written by Rick Riordan, so we thought, “How bad could it be? It would be amazing to see these incredible stories onscreen!” We were wrong. Every member of my family who had read the books agreed that this movie destroyed the intent of the original Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. We had rented the movie in hopes of being able to see the characters from the book brought to life on the screen in the same vivid way that Riordan brought them to life in the pages of his book. But instead, we were horribly disappointed. The characters and most of the basic story were there, but they were different. The goal was off, the producers seem to have attempted to stuff the entire series into two movies, and we generally felt that the films were incomplete. Gone were the fascinating scenes in which trivia about Greek mythology were woven into the…

Since the dawn of publishing, certain human beings have impacted and molded the industry into a new well-rounded pot. Very few have impacted the world of literature all together. J.K. Rowling is part of the select few who has done both. She has molded a pot that others try to mimic, but fall short. Rowling’s Harry Potter book series has not only changed the publishing industry, but has strongly impacted the cross-changing from children’s books to YA novels, and has impacted literature as a whole. Rowling has dominated in literature by changing the tradition of how books are published, and by what genres define a book.…

The average person doesn’t usually think of art as something that influences religion yet in true facts art helps us visualize our beliefs since as humans we at times find it easier to believe that which we see. Even in the Bible we find that humans have made sculptures, statues and paintings of their god in order for them to have something that reminds them of that greater force and act as intermediaries between them as moral beings and God as a divine spiritual being. For example Early Christians used the fish as a symbol of God which is now replaced by the symbol of the cross; Ancient Egyptians who worshipped numerous god’s used a falcons head as a symbol of their sun god Ra, and Muslims with the symbol of a moon and star. In Ancient Greece it was customary for artists to represent the Olympian deities in perfectly-modelled men or women because they believed that the god’s were somewhat like humans but in perfect form and…
