Compare The Levels Of Carbohydrates In Milk
Lactose is a sugar present in milk. It is a disaccharide containing glucose and galactose units. When you consume lactose, you break it into glucose and galactose using the enzyme lactase, you then absorb these small sugars into your bloodstream, and from there, cells take them up for energy use. Soy milk doesn’t contain lactose, which makes it edible for people that are lactose and tolerate. But in this experiment we’re testing the levels of carbohydrates in milk. So what is Carbohydrates and what are they made of?

Carbohydrates are made up of molecules called saccharides (another term for sugar.) Simple saccharides contain 1 or 2 molecules and are called monosaccharides or disaccharides, or, more commonly, sugars. Oligosaccharides
