Compare And Contrast Yelim And Soyeon

Yelim and Soyeon went to Metropolitan Museum and we found diverse art works which are related to our theme “War”. There were a lot of art works that are related to the war and they are all different. There were winners and losers that fight in the battle and also the weather can express the victory of the war. Most of the paintings' weather were cloudy and rainy, also with fires. The reason why, the battle was cruel and horrible. All paintings and sculptures are about the battle and the authors portraits the soldiers who are rest after the war, or fight during the war. Most of the paintings weathers were cloudy that express the war and expression of soldiers were not happy enough. The sculptures are made with bronze and bronze can convey more emotion about war than any metals such as gold and silver. Based on “Rainy day in Camp”, the weather makes us feel depressed and tough moment. The word "War" also is not good word that cannot make people feel happy. If we hear war, we feel scared, depress, and worry. Rainy can also explained soldiers' feeling, moment of battle and victory. Lose at battle and also weather is rainy, the situations get worse.
Background of this artwork is area of Civil war. Civil war happened in United States of America on April 1861 for freedom of slavery. That is why we felt a grim resolution from this artwork when we saw it at the first time. Five men at artwork are looked determined for war. For us, interesting was that their clothes are normal as daily clothes even though they are fighting as soldiers. Furthermore, we thought one men with black clothes and knife is a commander and he directs what the other men need to do. The other men seem waiting the commander’s order. Atmosphere of this artwork is desolated and bleak because citizen of America fought and killed each other for liberty of slavery. It represents people’s feelings of Civil war at that time very
