MAROUBRA AND KOGARAH
Maroubra and Kogarah are two suburbs in Sydney, Australia. Maroubra, which is located 10 kilometers south – east of the Central Business District, is a beach suburb while Kogarah is a residential one and located 14 kilometers south of the Central Business District. There are many similarities and differences between the two suburbs. This report will compare and contrast information on the aspects of people, housing and services.
There are some similarities and a few differences in the people aspect. The population in Maroubra is larger than in Kogarah. Maroubra has 26,500 people whereas Kogarah has just 10,900. However, the largest age group from 20 years old to 39 years old is approximately 32% in both suburbs. Moreover, the majority of the population in Maroubra and Kogarah is born in Australia.
The housing of the two suburbs is completely different. Both median house price and median apartment price in Maroubra is higher than in Kogarah. For example, the median house price in Maroubra is about 1,000,000 dollars while it is about 650,000 dollars in Kogarah.
There are some similarities and differences in services in the two suburbs. In regards to transport, there is a train station in Kogarah whereas Maroubra has none. Therefore, the percentage of people drive to work in Maroubra is 55%, which is higher than in Kogarah. Both suburbs have shopping centesr, small shops, and cafés. Moreover, the two suburbs have many private clinics and a major hospital. In term of education facilities, Maroubra and Kogarah have many schools from public to private. However, Kogarah has one college while Maroubra has none.
