Compare And Contrast Tom Wingfield And Lee
Tom and Lee
I chose to compare and contrast Tom Wingfield and Lee Younger. They are two gentlemen from two different plays. The lives they live are similar yet very different in many ways. They are both workingmen with dreams but no money to make their dreams come true.

Tom Wingfield has a dream of having money to become a poet and travel where as Lee Younger wants to go in the liquor business. Both have no money to do what they want, but have plans of making it a reality. They are both willing to sacrifice something to make their dreams come true. But if they do so and things fail, they will lose a lot from that. Tom uses the money to pay the electric to try and make his dreams work and Lee uses his mom’s money from her deceased husband

They both set the bar high for themselves despite the outcome. They do not care what it takes to get where they want to go. They seem to be a bit selfish when it comes to money even though they have nothing but good intentions at heart. They do not seem to understand what they could lose if things go wrong. They are not very realistic people when it comes to life. Both are hard headed and not very reasoning.

Another difference between the two is Tom does not risk his entire families money for his dream. Lee is willing to risk his family’s money for his dream. Tom just does not pay the electric bill; he does not let a new house in a nice neighborhood almost not happen for his. Tom is more considerate of what is at risk for his family. They can have the electric turned back on when they have the money to do so. But another nice house like the younger’s are looking at might not have happened again for a long while.

These two characters have a lot more in common than they do in difference. They both are willing to risk a lot for dreams that could potentially fail and cost them a lot. In the end they both learn lessons that were very important to them and made them realize what was really important to them. They are both men that are trying to do what they think is right for their

Walter Lee is the head of the family and in the beginning of the play he seems to be extremely bitter. He works for a rich white man as a chauffeur. This easily makes him bitter on the inside because he sees everyday what it is like to be rich. You can tell this because he tells Mama that he sees the rich white boys sitting down to eat every day and he knows they are talking about business or something about closing a million dollar deal. Walter Lee has had many business ideas in the past but they all seem to flop to the ground in a hurry like humpty dumpty. When he comes up with the idea of going into partnership with some men to open a liquor store his Mama is upset with him. He eventually convinces her into giving him a cut of the money from the insurance company after she buys a house for them to move in to. When he gives the money to his partner for the business, his partner runs with the money and is not seen again. This makes Walter very upset and he goes off the deep end for a short amount of time. The need of money may be important but it is definitely not worth losing your family over. After the money is lost, Walter invites the white man back to the apartment to discuss his offer and plans to accept the bribe to his family for them not to move. When the man gets to the apartment, Walter changes his mind and tells the…

Both of them kept a strong faith in their relationship with their lover, trusting in them and controlling themselves during these situations. They are both from different novels, written by people who had no connection to each other, but they still display the same qualities when faced with certain circumstances. Don Anselmo and Mrs.Higgins are similar because they both stand up for what they want. They have in common that they are both being strong in the beginning. Don Anselmo and Mrs. Higgins are different because Don Anselmo stays strong throughout the entire story but at the end Mrs.Higgins does not. I would not say they are more different than similar because they both want something better for the kids in their life.…

The two characters that are quite comparable are, and will be broken down in this essay, are Paul from Hotel Rwanda, and Okonkwo from Things Fall Apart. These two men have many similarities and many differences. Both men were the head of a family, and took that position very seriously. They were not to fail at this. Okonkwo took a more aggressive approach in that he was to be respected by his family and if he wasn't he would force that upon them. He wasn't one to be kind and loving, but tough and strong like a rock, for his family. During the conflicts in the book Okonkwo only got harder and more stern during the tough times. Paul took the approach quite differently, he was very loving and kind to his family and very inclusive. His role was…
