There are three branches in the United States federal government, the Executive, Legislative and Judicial branches. The Executive branch is composed of the president, vice president and the cabinet with the responsibility to carry and enforce laws the Congress passes. Over the years the Executive branch has encountered several changes, differing from the legislative and judicial branches. It has grown in size and it is more complex and powerful compared to when the United States was founded.
