Compare And Contrast The Motives Of European Imperialism In Africa And Asia
The European Imperialism on Africa and Asia started in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. Imperialism is when one country controls another country politically, economically, and or culturally. The five motives of imperialism are; economic, exploratory, ethnocentric, political, and religious. Economically, during the industrial revolution the private companies wanted natural sources and they wanted places where they would be able to sell their products. Exploratory, imperial nations or citizens wanted to explore territory that they felt like they didn’t know anything about. The imperial explorers wanted to discover map and claim the territory. Ethnocentric, a racist belief in which imperial nations thought their ethnic beliefs were more valuable
