Steven Simkins 12/13/12 The American Revolution and Civil War were fought with a purpose derived from, and in defense of one minority group. As the Colonists built their own societies and settlements in the New America, issues of contentions arose separating themselves from the rest of the British empire. The Revolution became a fight for themselves and their well being not the well being of anyone else. As ideas of Civil War arose around 1860-1861 the cause was for the black minority although not yet announced by Abraham Lincoln. Both the American Revolution and Civil War were powered through the desires of one minority group to rise up and fight against the traditional normalities.…
The American Revolution was different from all other revolutions because it was the first successful attempt that established a government. Another thing that distinguished this revolution from the others is that it did not occur from within.…
In the late 18th century there were two dramatic revolutions that happened. There was the French revolution and the American Revolution. The American Revolution was between the American Settlers and Great Brittan and lasted from years 1775-1783. The French Revolution was between the Clergy and Nobility estates and the 3rd estate and lasted between the years 1789-1799. The French revolution was more radical then the American Revolution because how the revolutions started the French people would kill anyone who supported the king and, the ways the revolutions ended.…
The comparison of the American and French Revolution is all very ironic. Since the French had more control over their people, a political revolution was less likely to occur. But since the American’s had already established the Constitution guaranteed individual rights and freedom, it enabled them to have a more rebellious nature and go for a political…
The main source for the French Revolution was Louis XVI and his over control of everything. King Louis XVI was an absolute monarch that ruled by the divine right theory, the right t to rule from god. He got to choose all civil officials and military officers, created and enforced laws. Had the power to declare war and make peace. He taxed everything and spent people’s money on what he saw fit, controlled the thoughts expressed by a strict censorship of speech and press. He had the power to imprison anyone without trial for an indefinite period. During his rule he lived in his magnificent palace at Versailles, completely oblivious to the rising tide of popular discontent.…
In the American Revolution, colonists were rebelling against their ruler. The colonists who rebelled didn’t kill King George III, while in the French Revolution they were also rebelling against their ruler but unlike the American colonists they beheaded their king Louis XVI. Both rebelling citizens, in the end gained their freedom and equality.…
Compare and Analyze the America, French, and Latin American Revolution Throughout history, people have been oppressed and ruled by unfair governments. Several of which include the American Revolution, French Revolution, and the Latin American Revolution. However, only the American Revolution truly established a working form of government that lasted centuries.…
Both the American and French revolutions were focused on liberty and equality. America was trying to gain freedom from the rules, unfair taxation, War debt, and lack of representation from the British. The French Revolution on the other hand wanted to abolish the French monarchy and create a better government in which people could have more of a say in society, and also had similar causes as the American Revolution. They were similar in their causes because both of them were caused because of unfair taxation, war debt, and lack of representation. However, “The American Revolution involved a colonial uprising against an imperial power, which was considered an independence movement. The French Revolution involved citizens rising up against their own country’s leadership and against their own political and economic system, and in that sense was more of a revolution then the American Revolution” ( Armstrong 230). The outcomes were different because the Americans ended British rule by creating the Declaration of Independence which was a great way to solidify society. The French commoners did gain some freedom, but there was still a king controlling them.…
Many revolutions throughout the course of history have changed our world immensely. They’ve brought about anger and happiness, debt and wealth, and change—both for the good and bad. The American Revolution of the 1700s and the present day Arab Spring revolution are two profound examples of revolutions that have affected people and county’s around the world and impacted history. Although centuries and miles apart, these two revolutions share many similarities. The American Revolution and Arab Spring are similar because they both erupted due to an unsuitable and unjustifiable government, caused people to feel restless and restrained by unjust restrictions in society, the government, and economics, and included a period of terror during the revolution.…

One must consider the causes or reasons of the situation, the events that occur during the revolution and the effects or aftermath that had been created by that revolution. There were major differences between the French and American Revolutions.…
To begin, consider the characteristics of each country, such as the following: Answer: The French Revolution was plotted by the person who helped the Americans in their own, therefore both revolutions have many things in common. However, they were different countries, which means that they had different cultures and were different in a lot of ways. The Americans planned their revolution for many years and continued with economic, and military help from the French. Once the revolution was over, they were a republic and signed the treaty in Paris. When the French return to France they realize that they don’t have the freedom America does and they helped them fight for it. So, the French started planning their own revolution.…
CONTRAST 1-The roles that classes played in either revolution differed, most of the French, almost any class, were upset with the government because they too, were being punished with taxes so nearly everyone wanted a revolution, while not everybody wanted a revolution. More people in the upper class in France wanted a revolution than the upper class (usually loyalists) in America did. The monarchy was trying to tax the nobility and they were not happy with that, so they either fled the country or they participated in overthrowing their government…
Jackson Spielvogel said, “Yet for all of its obvious impact, the American Revolution proved in the long run to be far less important to Europe than the French Revolution. The French Revolution was more complex, more violent, and far more radical in its attempt to construct both a new political order and new social order.” The French Revolution was extremely influential to the rest of Europe because it proved that a country could benefit from a republic. It also showed just how brutal a monarch could be when a group of people comes between them and their power. Although the French Revolution was a cue for many European countries to begin to make a change in their government, it might never have happened without the American Revolution. Once the United States Constitution was established, many French citizens realized that America’s groundbreaking new government of a Democratic Republic could thrive in their country too. Although the American Revolution started it all, The French Revolution was much more complex, radical, violent, and influential to other European countries.…
