In “Hills Like White Elephants”, the two characters know what they are talking about; however, they try avoiding the problem and are not rally communicating with each other. As appose to it, the characters in “The Veldt” are actually communicating with one another but failed to recognize the problem. The death of the parents would bee a great example of their failure. In other words, characters in “Hills Like White Elephants” are not talking to each other but both know what they are on to; but the characters in “The Veldt” are actually talking and understanding each other but they don not understand the problem; which is to say, the characters are in totally opposite
