Compare And Contrast Essay On Foster Home
"Order in the court! Please come to the stands, and you may take your seats." Should Pony boy stay with his brothers or go to a foster home? Pony boy has been in the care of his brothers for the past few years because his mother and father died in a car accident. Pony boy should stay with his brothers because they can have more time together and make more memories with each other, also staying with his brother's will make it easier to see Dally, Steve, and Two-Bit.

Why should your brother, Pony boy, be able to live with you and Soda?" I asked. "Well," said Darry, "pony boy, could stay home with us and have more fun because he would be all lonesome in a foster home with kids he probably does not know." "Now why do you say he will have more fun with you all instead of foster care because some people he knows might be there?" I asked. "You will always have more fun with family because it is just a bond that you carry throughout life," Darry said. "Yeah," said Soda pop, "and foster care is not no fun anyway!" "That still does not tell me why he should stay with you and Soda pop instead of going to foster care," I said.

I said, "I agree but Pony boy really needs to be in a foster home because his brothers are a bad influence, smoking, in front of him, then letting him do it. "But, your honor, that is no good reason for making him go to foster care because they would not do much better, he would not even get in trouble there so what is the difference?" the agent

The Curtis boys eat chocolate cake every morning, page 105 says this “The first one up has to make breakfast, I started to find the eggs we need for our chocolate cake we eat every morning for breakfast, along with our chocolate milk.” This is some proof that Ponyboy should go to the system. He would be better off with the system because, the cake has a lot of sugar and it’s he’s eating a block of sugar everyday. So if Ponyboy stays with Darry he could get bad stomach problems involving diabetes and stomach and health issues. So the opponents that are on Darry’s side might argue that “ He’s a kid let him eat what he wants.” Then back to the system side, “ What’s good with letting him eat what he wants, when it could lead him to health issues, body problems, and possibly dying. So now that the system has a step up, Ponyboy will be better off with the system because they will make sure he gets a good breakfast EVERY MORNING!…

Noboday should ever holler at my brother. I exploded. “You dont yell at him!” I shouted. Darry wheeled around and slapped me so hard that it knocked me against the door.” Throughout the book Ponyboy talks about how much Darry hates him, and how he likes Sodapop better. He talks about how Darry gets mad when Ponyboy gets B’s on his report card but didnt get upset when Sodapop dropped out of school. At the end of the book though, Ponyboy realizes that Darry loves him so much that he is often to hard on him. “I let go of Soda and sood there for a minute. Darry didnt like me… he had driven me away that night… he had hit me… Darry hollered at me all the time… he didnt give a hang about me.. Suddenly I realized, horrified, that Darry was crying… In that second what Soda and Dally and Two-Bit had been trying to tell me came through. Darry did care about me, maybe as much as he cared about Soda, and because he cared he was trying to hard to make something of me.” In the end Ponyboy succeeded in overcoming his obstacle, Darry, because he finally realizes that all the times Darry was hard on him, or mean, he was only trying to help because he loved Ponyboy so…

From reading the book it was pretty clear that Ponyboy had a rough family life. It is a huge part of Ponyboys growth realizing his family was the most important thing to him but hadn’t realized this until it was too late. Ever since his parents died he has been under the care of Darry. Ponyboy always felt like Darry never loved him because he could never please him. "He's as hard as a rock and about as human...he thinks I'm a pain in the neck. He likes Soda--everybody likes Soda--but he can't stand me." (Hinton 42) . If Ponyboy were to bring home B’s, he demanded A’s and if he got A’s he wanted his marks to stay that way. He felt like he was the one always hollered at band Darry doesn’t love him like he does Soda. Ponyboy had to realize that…

Did you know if moved to an foster home, most children have to leave everyone and everything from the past behind them?I believe Ponyboy should go to the system, because of what he does on a daily basis, and what he’s exposed to at home. Ponyboy smokes a pack nearly everyday, which he is very likely to get/have cancer, liable to get jumped, and doesn’t attend school as much. Ponyboy should go to the system, because he’ll be safer, and have a better life. Ponyboy should stay with Darry and Soda, because their their his family, and he can’t get that same family love and affection as of a foster home. Ponyboy is better off going to the system, because he’s less likely to smoke, to stay out of fights, and most likely have a better education.…

While there have been numerous reforms made to the child welfare system in Tennessee in regards to providing care for the children, one area that desperately needs to be defined is the provision of care while these vulnerable children are in the custody of the Department of Children’s Services. Currently there is no policy that addresses the responsibility for making sure that these children are provided healthy and timely meals while being held in the local office or while during transport from the office to court, facilities or placements. The caseworkers who have the responsibility for these children are taxed with providing these meals out of their own pocket and then seeking reimbursement which could lead to ethical issues. The children…

“How would you feel if you spent your entire childhood being shipped from one foster home to another?” Many kids get sent from home to another all the time in foster care some kids will have lived up to 10 different homes before being adopted. Lots of kids get put into foster care to never be adopted and then have no family. My topic is controversial because people have different views on how the foster care system should be ran. Although many people think the foster care program is fine as it is, more control is needed over how foster parents handle things, because 13% of all foster kids run away at least once, Most kids in foster care are victims of some sort of child abuse, and kids wait a long time to be adopted.…
