Harry Potter Vs Draco Malfoy
series, by J.K. Rowling, are magnificent and complex characters that bring the plot to life; two of them being Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy. The two Hogwarts students lead completely different lives but without realizing it they have more in common than they think. Although both character are major influences in the series, one follows his heart and the other cowers in the corner.
The two boys lives are shaped the way they are because of the dark and powerful wizard, Voldemort. Harry was only a baby when his parents, Lily and James Potter, were killed in front of him by Voldemort. On that night, Voldemort didn’t only make him an orphan but also a famous wizard, for Voldemort tried to kill him as well and failed leaving him with only a lightning bolt scar on his forehead. Draco, on the other hand, grew up in a family of Death Eaters, followers of Voldemort. Since his father, Lucius Malfoy, was a Death Eaters, he had no choice but to follow in his footsteps and join Voldemort’s side. Even though Harry and Draco are from rich pureblood families, they grew up differently. Being an orphan, Harry was put in the custody of his Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon, who hated him and his parents for being wizards. Harry grew up as a servant for his aunt and uncle, never knowing that he was a wizard. He never had a parent figure in his life until Molly Weasley mothered him and Dumbledore, Headmaster of Hogwarts, put him under his wing. While Harry had no mother, Draco had an overbearing but loving mother, Narcissa Malfoy. Lucius and
Narcissa believed in pure blood lines and hated anyone who wasn’t a pureblood, thus engraving the same beliefs onto Draco.
