College Comparison Essay

“Training is everything. The peach was once a bitter almond; cauliflower is nothing but Cabbage with a College Education,” was a quote mark twain once said. Grade school is training for college and college is training for life, but when you get to college you have a choice to make, which one do you want to go to. There are so many universities and colleges to choose from, it can be stressful, but once you find the one that fits you, you have to get in. CalArts is a spectacular college to go to rather than University of Southern California because of its art majoring programs, better overall cost, overall fantastic school life, and its acceptance rates. In the words of Walt Disney, the founder of CalArts a kind of cross-pollination that [would] bring out the best in its students.” (Sarbanes, 1). A college education puts you over the top so it’s important to get one.

This shows that everyone at the school doesn’t feel alone. Most of the people at the school have friends, or people to talk to. You can’t be a misfit when you’re surrounded by people with the same

The worries of colleges and universities start to come during high school years. In my case, I am barely a sophomore and I am already worried about which colleges or universities I want to go to. For now, I have chosen University of Riverside and California State University Dominguez Hills, because I know that I will be close to my home and family. I don’t know if by two years I’ll still want one of those universities, but I do think they are a good option. These two universities have a few similarities and many differences, starting from the weather to admission requirements and differ on anything else.…

The essay “Two Years Are Better Than Four” by Liz Addison is a response to Rick Perlstein’s “What’s the Matter with College?” piece. Addison is an advocate of the American community college system, which enabled her to reach her own goals of becoming a veterinarian student. Perlstein’s piece is a nostalgic description of what the four-year college experience used to entail for students, as he laments over the days where “pretentious reading lists was all it took to lift a child from suburbia” and when college “really mattered.” Addison argues that the community college offers a refuge that unconditionally allows students to “begin. Just begin.” The benefits of community colleges are highlighted throughout the essay as Addison explains how they allow students to develop themselves as learners and allow for independent growth. The “priceless springboard” that is the community college is therefore not only a gateway to higher education, but also serves as an institute for self discovery. This system is “America’s hidden public service gem” in which it is still possible to begin your college experience as a “rookie”. There is a chance for every citizen to advance their learning using this system and that that hope begins “with just one placement test”.…

Maybe you don't know what you want from life, but we all know we want to be successful. As I oscillated between a few high schools I knew I wanted to leave a mark on the world, because being known is amazing. I know how to get it, I know what I have to do to get it, and I know where I needed to be to get it. I decided to attend BCTHS after my amble tour through the building. At that point I believed it would make me successful, and I knew I could endure this challenge on my own. I knew that there will be competition, but I also knew that I will still be successful. Success to me means going to a great college, and one day be well known for the creativity in my art and photography. I wanted to start ahead of the competition, and I knew I couldn't do this unless I attend BCTHS, especially when my two favorite career classes are dovetailed as one.…
