Write a paper to compare and contrast between WIMAX and LTE
4G stand for fourth generation network for mobile communication. It is better as compare to 3G or 2G network. It provides ultra broadband internet access from USB wireless modem to laptops and to other mobile devices. The two most important technologies for 4G network are WIMAX and LTE.
Basic Requirement for 4G
International Telecommunication Union Had specified various type of requirement for 4G standard. Peak speed should be at 1 Gigabit per second for low mobility and 100 megabit per second for high mobility connection. High mobility connection speed mean like when the user is on the moving object which is moving at high speed like train, car ,bus where as the low mobility mean that when the user is walking along the road or move very slow. WHAT IS LTE?
LTE(Long Term Evolution)
LTE stand for Long Term Evolution is one of the 4G standards for wireless data communication. It is based on the UMTS/HSPA and GSM/EDGE technologies. It aim at increasing the speed and capacity using difference radio frequency together. The standard of LTE is developed by 3GPP.LTE was first propose by DoCoMo of Japan in the year 2005 and The first LTE was launched to public in OSLO and Stockholm on 14 December 2009.World famous wireless carrier like Verizon wireless launched it first LTE network in North America in 2010.Airtel launched LTE in India in the month of April 2012. The goal of LTE was to increase the capacity and speed of wireless data network by using new technology which is call Digital Signal Processing(DSP) techniques which was developed around the turn of the millennium.LTE network interface is not compatible with 3G and 2G networks so it have to be work on separate wireless spectrum.LTE provide scalable carrier bandwidth from 1.4 Mega Hertz to 20 Mega Hertz and it also support both Time division multiplexing and Frequency division multiplexing. It also provides good handover for both data and voice to cell network and also to older technology like UMTS, GSM and CDMA etc.
Some Features of LTE
It provides maximum download rate of 299.6 Mbps and Upload rate up to 75.4 Mbps depending on the type of equipment which user use. 2.
Improvement of support for mobility and support moving object from 350 Km/h up to 500 km/hour. 3.
It provides low data transfer latencies for handover process and connection setup. 4.
It uses OFDMA for the downlink and SC-FDMA for uplink.
It supports both TDD (Time division duplex) and FDD (Frequency Division Duplex). 6.
Support the entire frequency band which currently used by IMT. 7.
It supports cell size from 10 m radiuses up to 100 Kilometer or 62 Miles. Lower frequency band is mainly used in rural area. 8.
Support Multicast-Broadcast Single Frequency network.
LTE standard support only packet switching with it all IP network voice call in CDMA,GSM and UMTS is packet switched.
WHAT IS WIMAX?
WIMAX stand for Worldwide interoperability for Microwave access) is a wireless communication which is designed to provide data rate from 30 -40 Mbps rate. WIMAX refers to interoperable implementations of the IEEE 802.16 of wireless networks standards. WIMAX forum allows vendors to sell mobile or fixed products as WIMAX certified product. The original IEEE802.16 standard is now call fixed WIMAX was published on 2001.Mobile WIMAX is one of the technology which is use in many country.

It can provide broadband connectivity from one city to other city and also countries through various device. 2.
