Different Employers
When you reach the age to be able to work, you have many choices in life, where you can work, who you can work for. At the age of 15 I made a choice to work for The Yum Brand Company, and later on in life at the age of 21 I decided to change employers and work for BBRG Company. They are two very different companies but they have their similarities.
Working in the food industry is very different everyplace. Working for the Yum Brand Company they have numerous restaurants but the one that I worked for was KFC & Taco Bell. When working for a company like this you have to have patience and skills. When I worked for KFC I made minimum wage, worked long hours, late hours, and dealt with rude people. When I worked for KFC I would always work the drive through and always have to yell to get the orders out as fast as you can because you are on a timer. KFC & Taco Bell is a fast food chain, not healthy even though they have the healthier menu; all of the food was not fresh. Everything was frozen and on hormones. KFC and Taco Bell offered vacation hours after a certain amount of time. If you happen to be sick, you have to come in and prove to them that you are sick and even bring in doctors notes because KFC does not have enough staff for each location.
Both Companies have there good and there bad. Workings for Yum Brand and BBRG both have similarities. Both companies offer insurance and benefits. Working both of these companies you have opportunities to move up in the company and become either team lead or manager. Honestly in both companies you are deprived from a social life, work a lot, and gain weight. They both serve food, but very different.
Working for BBRG Company is an amazing company. You work a company that has amazing opportunities to grow within the company. BRIO is a casual fine dining restaurant. You are taken care from the second you walk in the door to the minutes you finish eating and walk out the door. Everything in Brio is to the guest’s standards. There mission statement at BRIO “At BBRG, we strive to be the Best Italian Restaurant Company in America and we want our people to know they work for the Best. We will develop loyal, lifelong Guests by delivering the highest quality food and service, to each Guest...each meal...each and every day." This is very true about BRIO and they care about there employers. If you are sick, they will give you the time off that you need. Every employee at BRIO is treated fairly and with respect. While working as a waitress at BRIO you making excellent money compared to fast food. You build regular guest that come back to dine with you as often as they can. You are always complemented for the service you give to your guest or reprimanded for doing something wrong. At BRIO you attend intensive training and are to know the menu by heart to assist guest needs, if they have questions.
Working in the restaurant industry is very different everywhere. You have your good and your bad for both companies. To my experience I have only had an amazing experience at BRIO and enjoy working there. With both employers I had and have the opportunity to move up within the company. Every employer will treat you different.

Don Anselmo and Mrs.Higgins are similar because they both stand up for what they want. They have in common that they are both being strong in the beginning. Don Anselmo and Mrs. Higgins are different because Don Anselmo stays strong throughout the entire story but at the end Mrs.Higgins does not. I would not say they are more different than similar because they both want something better for the kids in their life.…

Managers see People as robots. At first, one can argue that these unskilled entry level jobs are easy, but after working at one, it changed my attitude towards life. It was not so much the busy environment or physical labor that was particularly hard; it was the mental and emotional stress that affected me as an individual. The relationships of managers towards the employees, thus no matter how hard people are working, created very hesitant working environment. With having to do twenty things at a time, it is very mentally draining. Since one of the main priorities was to save labor and not to cut into the profits, people were required to do multiple positions at a time. I remember how insane it was to be an order taker and cashier at the same time during the dinner rush. Besides dealing with costumers, trying to hear what people are ordering through the intercom, and ringing up the order, I had to follow the standard guidelines of greeting, confirming the order, asking for drinks, and saying “Please pull to the window”. While at the same time, I had to greet the customer at the window, say the total, collect the money, ask for sauce, check the items in the bag, tell the customer what’s in the bag, and then “please come again”. After such experience, I do not know how anyone would not attend school to obtain at least some education. Therefore, working there drained all the energy out of me and made me very moody and sensitive because I was always tired. At the end of every shift, I just wanted to come home and hide in the closet while crying myself to sleep because of mental exhaustion. My experience, as a former Taco Bell employee, is a perfect example of capitalism and how it alienates people from the product, self, process and the…

Everyday, stereotype is used in the society. Sometimes, when people use stereotype on other people, they don’t even recognize it because it’s so common and is ignored by the society. It’s a way to judge people through their common believes based on ethnicity, gender, skin color, appearance and language of the people who are being judged. For example, when people see a Vietnamese woman in her 20’s, 30’s and 40’s just migrated to America, they would assume that she will be working in a nail salon and flirt with some rich guys to get married with. Being stereotype is difficult deal with, and it’s really offended and hurtful. “The Myth of the Latin woman: I Just Met a Girl Named Maria” by Judith Ortiz Cofer and “Mother Tongue” by Amy Tan share some common and different stereotypes that they had to go through. In the story “The Myth of the Latin Woman: I just met a Girl Named Maria”, Judith Cofer wrote about her experiences being stereotyped as a Latin woman. In “Mother Tongue,” Amy shared her personal experiences being stereotyped with her language’s barrier. Even though the two female authors shared the similarity for being stereotyped by the society, they faced different situations on the way they were stereotyped.…

Introduction- It is a typical Monday, school was long and boring and senior year is taking a toll. I have to work after school… Yuck. Daily I find myself wishing I didn’t have to spend another 4 and 1/2 hours working with hot grease and angry customers. Though some days are long and the thought of work is daunting, I honestly wouldn’t have wanted to spend the past few years anywhere else. Most people consider fast food a menial job for unintelligent people, but I have to disagree. Walking into fast food I would have never thought my life could be enriched in so many ways. McDonald's has taught me about life, about myself, and even about who I want…

Starting off with the fast food restaurants, these chains are corporate owned, fueled by the consumer and are known well known for inexpensive food. Fast food chains usually provide value meals and quick service to attract buyers from all around the country. Many fast food chains relate by having speedy “drive thrus” and counter service, which makes ordering your meal faster and moving on to the next customer easier as well. These chains normally want an in and out type of service, you go there to eat and then you leave basically. Almost all of their food is prepared by machine, fried or bake by high temperature ovens, which just leaves the work of preparing the food for the consumer in less than a couple minutes. Most of the time, fast foods have some type of company mascot or logo to help people easily find their restaurants when visiting new towns, such as big golden arches, or a smiling, red haired, girl with freckles, or a more outrageous mascot, “The King.” All in all, the fast food chains are a dominating monopoly that will continue to bring more so called “value” and different gimmicks in hopes of consumers to keep on fueling their company.…

I got my first job at sixteen because my parents required it. However, I had no intention of getting a job and wanted to continue being a teenager where I had little responsibility. As I looked around my hometown for a job, I found that there were not a lot available. I finally was able to find a job close to my house at a local Dairy Queen working for minimum wage. Now that I had a job I had to make decisions in time I spent between friends, athletics, and now work. Having a job gave me another outlook on life. It taught me about the importance of money and the consequences of my financial decisions. It also helped me to understand the control I needed on the flow of my finances and along the way taught me many life lessons.…

The other place I would like to work at would be more of a mom and pop place with authentic food such as El Merendero in La Vern CA. This place has been here since 1982 and is a family owned and operated restaurant that serves great Tex-Mex food. They have a small, clean, fast, great, hot food place that is affordable. I think I could learn a lot from a place like this since I would like to have a similar set up myself. They are located next to the Pomona Fairgrounds and as such they attract all sorts of fans. I look forward to taking this on and hope for the best.…
