Choosing Dawn vs. Veronica

They say no two siblings are similar, but Dawn and I are very different. Growing active we stood near each other, many people looked shocked that we were siblings. Some people believe it! Although we don’t look alike, however we have the same parents only we obtain different qualities which make us unique in our own ways. We like the same things such as football, shopping, watching NASCAR, attending concerts, and watching TV shows however we both look at life different.

One question when siblings are together do you relate to your sibling? My answer no. Dawn was born July 12, 1986. I was born May 19,1988 so we are two years apart. We both were born in the same hospital and we grew up in California. Dawn likes the color purple, I like the color blue. Dawn adores cats, I adore dogs. Dawn hates the cold, I like the cold. I enjoy being outside. Dawn enjoys inside. I enjoy the water, dawn enjoys the shore. I enjoy nature, Dawn enjoys the country side. I enjoy new cars, Dawn enjoys old cars.
Comparing and contrasting our childhood physical differences remained opposite. Growing up I remained more like my mom short blond hair and blue eyes. Dawn remained more like my dad tall, long dark hair and brown eyes. I am considered weak, while dawn remains considered strong. I obtain small hands and small feet, while Dawn has big hands and big feet. When growing active, I was fit and active while dawn was lazy and a little fat. Now that we are grown up the only physical characteristic we share being skinny.

Comparing and contrasting when growing up our hobbies were a lot in common but, developed different views. I for one am considered the fun sibling, my sister Dawn not so much. Dawn and I hang out with friends, go places, attend concerts, watch NCIS and NASCAR, attend Football games, and go fishing. However we tend to disagree with each

Identical twins are genetically the same. They are a good example of the interaction between inheritance and the environment. For example, an identical twin who takes regular exercise will have better muscle tone than one who does not exercise. All of the differences that you see between identical twins, for example, in personality, tastes and aptitude, are due to differences in their experiences or environment.…

The list goes on and on as far as these misleading similarities go. The similarities are misleading because they can disguise the fact that their are differences. Don Anselmo and Mrs.Higgins are similar because they both stand up for what they want. They have in common that they are both being strong in the beginning. Don Anselmo and Mrs. Higgins are different because Don Anselmo stays strong throughout the entire story but at the end Mrs.Higgins does not. I would not say they are more different than similar because they both want something better for the kids in their life.…

    Not Quite the Same

As in the novel The House on Mango Street, Esperanza tells us that Nenny and her have things in common; however, at times they do not look like sisters. Just like them my sister and I are the similar to them we have some things in common but don’t quite look like sisters. “But me and Nenny, we are more alike than you would know. Our laughter for example” said Esperanza (pg.17), what she tries to tell us here is that Nenny and her may not look like sister right away, but when you start to see the similarities you start to notice they are sister. Like Esperanza, my sister and I really don’t look alike, but at times people can see our common similarities. For example, just like their laughter, my sisters and my laugh are about the same. Some siblings may not all look alike; on the other hand, like Esperanza and Nenny there is a way to tell they are sisters.…

One interview was of my own sibling and the other an identical twin that I went to high school with. Dakota Chaney, my twin brother, describes out relationship as being very loving. He states, “I genuinely care about my sister and I know that she cares about me. It’s not how people think it is. In fact, I think there’s less of a sibling rivalry between us than just regular siblings.” Dakota’s experiences have contradicted the typical stereotype of it being “so terrible” to have a twin. He says that his sibling relationship is quite enjoyable and not that bad. In fact, Dakota states, “My family and even strangers don’t realize how close we are. I think that sometimes they get confused and mix up our kind of sibling relationship with those who aren’t twins. Not to reverse stereotype, but siblings who are not twins seem to be more distant and fight a lot more. With my sister and I, this isn’t the case.” This isn’t to say that twins don’t argue at all. We still have our tiffs, but they are few and far between due to how close we are to each other. Going through the same situations and problems and helping each other find solutions helps twins to become very close and may even contribute to their lack of fighting rather than what most would think of as causing an…

The baker in “A Small Good Thing” by Raymond Carver caught my attention from the beginning of the story. He was abrupt with Ann, but it felt like there were reasons that would be explained soon why he was this way. The initial impression I got from him wasn’t likeable but as I got further into the story, there was a spark of compassion in this man that I could relate to. The bakers harassing tendencies and social isolation as a person are not traits I exhibit, where as his strong sense of compassion and emotion is where I can relate more to.…

Being a twin is synonymous with having a lifetime friend. Even though we may have our disagreements from time to time, I know that our bond will never be broken. She’s basically my best friend. Not many people in this world can say they’ve experienced the closeness of a sibling relationship. We’ve been together literally since day one- we were “womb-mates!” My twin experience has helped me grow as a person, and I wouldn’t be complete if it wasn’t for…
