Compare and Contrast: Cal State LA & Cal Poly Pomona
Cal State Universities are excellent choices because they are part of the most affordable public education systems in the nation and promote access to higher education. When deciding to go to a university like Cal Poly Pomona or Cal State Los Angeles, there can be many things that need to be considered in order to make the right choice. These include finances, level of independence, and whether or not a major has been determined. Students have many options that can help them afford their education with state aid, loans, and scholarships. Choosing the right university is a difficult decision to make. Cal State Los Angeles and Cal Poly Pomona are very similar and they are both on the quarter system which is very convenient, but there are benefits that Cal State Los Angeles offers that Cal Poly Pomona does not. The benefits that make Cal State Los Angeles a better choice than Cal Poly Pomona are admission process, tuition & fees and program/degree availability.
At Cal Poly Pomona the admission requirements for a first time applicant are to have a “C” or better in the following courses: 4 semesters of English; 3 semesters of Math; 2 semesters of social science; 2 semesters of science; 2 semesters of foreign language; 1 semesters of visual and performing arts and 1 semester of electives. Qualifications for admission are based on a combination of grades and scores on either the American College Test (ACT) or the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). For transfer students the requirements is the completion of 60 or more transferable semester college units and are considered an upper division transfer student. These requirements must be satisfied in order to begin the admission process also having a grade point average of 2.0 or better and being in good standing at the last college or university attended. Students must complete at least 30 semester units of general education including English composition,

    Extreme Anxiety The most interesting short stories that caught my undivided attention were: “The Yellow Wallpaper” by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, and “Jealous Husband Returns in Form of Parrot” by Robert Olen Butler.
