The key parties of this situation would be Stewart and myself. Even though I think telling Stewart about Waksal is unethical, following Baconivic’s orders and telling her would put her at an advantage because she would be able to sell her ImClone stocks before the rest of the shareholders could. Even though she could use the Waksal information for her advantage, she would be putting herself in jeopardy with the law. Following Baconivic’s orders would also make me look better in front of him and he could possibly help me get a higher positioned job in the future. For myself, if I know telling Stewart is unethical and I still do it, I am going against my own moral values. By doing so, I am complying with Albert Carr’s way of thinking about business and personal ethics being separate. I would be complying with Carr’s thinking because I would be following Baconivic’s orders even though it goes against my own values. If I don’t listen to Baconivic, I could risk losing my job at the company. By doing so, it could put a halt in my career.…

CH2O is a company that blends chemicals to create products such as acid cleaners, and then ships the blended chemicals in drums to the customers. After the drums containing the chemicals reaches the customer, CH2O asked that the customer returned the drums to be reused. Once the drums were returned, the company cleaned the drums themselves, and wastewater was produced in the process. Because the local sewer authority would not accept the wastewater, CH2O discharged the wastewater illegally by means of an apartment complex drain and a warehouse owned by the company. CH2O continued to dispose of the produced wastewater by these means until 1995, when investigations emerged on CH2O for discharging pollutants into the sewer. Iverson, the founder, president, and chairmen of the board for CH2O, was charged with four counts of violating the Clean Water Act (CWA), the Washington Administrative Code (WAC), and the City of Olympia’s Municipal Code (Olympia Code), and was found guilty. Iverson then appealed the case, but his arguments were found to be invalid.…

    • Jonica Gunson is the environmental compliance manager for a small plastics manufacturing company. She is currently faced with the decision whether or not to spend money on new technology that will reduce the level of a particular toxin in the wastewater that flows out the back of the factory and into a lake. • The factory's emission levels are already within legal limits. However, Jonica knows that environmental regulations for this particular toxin are lagging behind scientific evidence. In fact, a scientist from the university had been quoted in the newspaper recently, saying that if emission levels stayed at this level, the fish in the lakes and rivers in the area might soon have to be declared unsafe for human consumption.…

It is now more compelling to every IT companies to have a laid down Code of Ethics in their organization. The idea is a way of establishing a Corporate Code of Ethics or Conduct. This Code of Ethics not only highlights ethical issues but also presents the organization’s values and principles. The United Nation also set a standard Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct is respect for fundamental human rights, social justice and human dignity, and respect for the equal rights of men and women. Consequently, I endeavor to go into the unethical issues of Apple. Like its well-known that Apple is one of the largest producers of smart phones and tablets. Their product stands out among other competitors. They produce high quality phones and durable tablets. According to New York Times that reported how Apple sidesteps billions in taxes. Apple’s headquarter is in Cupertino, California. But, apple strategically put another office in Reno, Nevada that is 200miles away from California. This was done in order for them to collect and invest the company’s profit, as a result of California corporate tax rate of 8.84 percent and Nevada corporate tax rate is 0%. They thereby, denied state of California the deserved tax money. All these amount to unethical management decision to the detriment of California people. Their actions have set a bad business precedent. It is also known that Apple always looks for cheap way to maximize their profit at the expense of others. Apple’s major buyers were in America but refuse to give back to the country. Apple deliberately manufactures all their products in China because of cheap labor. Even in China where they operate there is fragrant abuse of human right. Apple has made several unethical decisions that have led to uproar in China. Although, Apple has its own Code of Ethics and Policy which I think were not properly implemented. Because if Apple has formed there company’s values that mesh well with its staff’s personal and cultural values, and…

“A company should behave like a good citizen in business. The law does not (and cannot) contain or prescribe the whole duty of a citizen. A good citizentakes account of the interests of others besidehimself and tries to exercise aninformal and imaginative ethical judgment in deciding what he should or shouldnot do. This, it is suggested, is how companies should seek to behave.”…
