Community Oriented Social Work
The second ideal of Community Oriented Social Work I will discuss begins at the local level. In other words, in order to foster an understanding of the clients' living environment, social workers should expose themselves to the neighborhoods the clients' live in (Mantle & Backwith, 2008). This could build rapport with the client. During my Bachelors of Social Work program, I learned that self disclosure (if used appropriately) can be a powerful tool that is used to build trust with a client. Milwaukee social workers should expose themselves to the harsh urban environments of minority target populations. This will truly allow these social workers to understand what kinds of social/environmental conditions the minority target populations are
