Community Action Plan
Community Action Plan
• This will serve as a guide for your community action plan. However, I am not confining you to this outline – please feel free to add extra details or information if you like.

Community Action Plan
I. Community Profile
-- The selected community (in general) would be Gawad Kalinga
– Majada. You may want to do some research regarding GK on the internet. -- You may also want to discuss in detail the profile of your interviewed family/ies. II. Needs/Assessment
-- In general, what are the problems/needs of the community/family that needs to be addressed? -- Among these needs/problems, which problem will you be focusing on? Why?

III. Working Title
-- Here, you will be thinking of a creative/catchy title for your community action plan.
Eg. “Oplan Tuli 2015”, “Pera sa
Basura”, etc..

IV. Objectives

-- For the objectives, please indicate at least three objectives.

V. Plan of Action
-- From the identified problem, what would be your plan of action in order to resolve it?
-- Please be reminded that the proposed plan has to be realistic and not ideal.

Your plan of action should not be confined to material things.
For example, if you identified the problem “waste management” and your plan of action would be “place garbage cans everywhere” or “get garbage trucks” – indeed, they can be useful, but does the presence of garbage cans ensure cleanliness?

It is not certain that the community will utilize the garbage cans, as some may have not any knowledge regarding waste management.
Therefore, you have to think of measures, policies, or strategies that has to be employed in order to resolve the problem.

Please indicate a proposed budget, and also the budget breakdown. I am not asking for an extremely detailed breakdown – a simple budget plan would do.

Feel free to send me a message if you have any questions. Good luck!

On October 10th, 2006 I attended the 8th district’s community outreach meeting at the Eastern Patrol Station of the Chicago Metro Police Station at 7:00 P.M.. The room where the meeting was being held was half of a larger room which is divided into two by a movable wall in the center. When I arrived there were about 8 or 9 other individuals, all of which were black females over the age of 60. Right away I felt out of place in the room and they knew I wasn’t part of the district. One of the women even joked that I was here maybe because of the redistricting of the city. As the meeting grew nearer more people showed up to the meeting. By 7:00 PM there was about 25 people at the meeting, everyone was black and 95 percent of the individuals in the room were fifty and above. The exceptions to this age group were two women in their 40s, one of which was the daughter to an elderly woman attending and a girl in her teens who was the granddaughter to the mention elderly woman. The meeting was lead by three people, one community police officer, one president, and a vice president. The officer was a black male in his late 30s or early 40s. The president was in her 60s and the vice president in her mid 50s. The people in the meeting asked why I was there which I explained to them that I was a student from SLU working on a project for school. They seemed excited that someone was taking an interest in their meeting.…
