Communication In Health And Social Care Essay
1.1 There are many different reasons why people communicate in adult social care, as well as communication being between varieties of different people within this setting. For example, it could be conversation between support workers, support workers to managers or other health care professional and anyone communicating with service users including family. Communication can also come in many different forms such as verbal, non-verbal, body language and facial expressions as well as others. One main reason that people communicate is to interact with each other and relate to them on many different levels. Other main factors why people communicate are to make and develop relationships. The service user A.L communicates her needs though body language m and gestures. I explained to A.L that she had ran out of shampoo but that we could go out and get some from the local shops or in town. I asked A.L if this was ok and if she wanted to come with me to purchase what she needed. A.L nodded. A.L then indicated how she would like to travel and was making a driving motion with her hands. As I do not drive I explained we could catch a bus. A.L nodded and smiled. I informed my manager who gave me some of A.L’s money to purchase toiletries. When A.L was ready we walked to the bus stop and caught a bus to saffron lane, where there is a store that stock toiletry items, when we arrived I showed A.L where the items we needed where, she then picked out several items she needed and we purchased them. When we arrived back to the care home we stored A.L items in back office. I asked A.L if she still wanted to wash her hair she nodded in agreement. I then supported A.L with personal care and aided her with putting on the shampoo that she then rubbed into her hair. After rinsing this out I asked A.L if she was happy and she nodded again and
