Firstly, we would like to express our gratitude to our Communication for Administration Professionals lecturer Madam Afiza binti Abdul Majid for giving us the opportunity for conducting this group assignment. We also would like to thank Mr. Haji Sabri for letting us interview his department in TS Group Holdings Sdn Bhd. about our topic. We also would like to thank our friends and classmate because they provide us with useful information and always supporting us from the beginning until the end of this project. Lastly we would like to thank our parent for the infinite support they gave us in whatever good things we do.

INTRODUCTION

For our group assignment, the company that we have selected is TS Group Holdings Sdn Bhd. This company provided foods and service as their main business. The services provided are catering and cleaning. The catering service are usually book for the big event such as wedding and dinner function while the cleaning service are made contract by a certain company that needs cleaning.

This company consist of 50 staff in their office, not include the workers for the catering and cleaning service. Most of the the office workers came from generation ‘Baby Boomers’ and ‘Generation Xers’ and a little bit of ‘Generation Y’. The workers for the catering and cleaning service exceed the staff of the office and it also depend on the size of the event and situation. The workers for this sector mostly consist of generation ‘Baby Boomers’ and ‘Generation Y’.

This company is located at No. 27E, Blok 2, Tingkat 5, Pusat Perniagaan Worldwide, Jalan Tinju 13/50, Seksyen 13, Shah Alam, Selangor. The person in charge for the interview is Mr. Haji Sabri bin Muhammad Yunus, Senior Executive of Human Resource department. That company was interviewed by us on 25 April 2014.

The topic that we have selected is ‘General Differences’ and ‘Power and Influence of Members’. The reason we selected this topic is because we want to know how the three generations (Baby Boomers, Generation Xers and Generation Y) working together. We also investigate and what type of power is usually practiced in this type of company.

GENERAL DIFFERENCES

Based on our observations, there are a lot of differences between these 3 generations; Baby Boomers, Generation X and Millennials. These generations are having been raised in different era in which each of them shows variety of result in the workplace. From our research at TS Holding Group Sdn Bhd about generational differences at their workplace, we received feedback or variety of information about these 3 generations. Tables below show the differences between Baby Boomers, Generation X and Millennials.

From the table below, it shows that the knowledge of baby boomers mostly relies on their experienced compare to education. It is because most of this generation did not go to school or finished study earlier than exact time they should probably because of money, attitude or grades. In term of attitude, this generation usually sacrifices personal life for their work. This generation must work hard because there are no company wants them because of their age.
