This risk assessment tool is used to evaluate a person’s risk for developing colorectal cancer. I believe that research studies were done to help distinguish important risk factors that are related to the development of colorectal cancer. With that being said, when a person completes the assessment it calculates and detects that person’s potential risk. Also, it provides education and tips on how to prevent or treat the disease.
2. How does the risk assessment level or score compare to the relative risk?
The risk assessment score is based on research studies to calculate a person’s potential risk. The relative risk is the comparison between the independent and dependent variables that were used in the research studies. According to Epidemiology-Relative Risk (RR) …show more content…
The use of this tool is to detect the level of risk that a person has for the particular disease. However, the odds ratio is the calculation of two groups trying to understand if one of the risk factors increases the risk to develop the disease. The difference between the two methods would be that the odds ratio is used to study patient’s currently with the disease and risk assessment tool is used to identify the level of risk that person obtains for the disease. Therefore, these two tools are used to gather a better understanding of the disease’s risk factors.
4. Do you think this is a good risk assessment tool? Why or why not?
Yes, I believe that this risk assessment was very informative and educational. This risk assessment tool was developed to provide the person with quick results, steps to prevent the disease, and education on screens and test. Overall, this assignment helped me better understand one of the epidemiological study designs used for colorectal cancer and informed me about my personal risk
