One has to approach school as an added duty in one’s life. I must add an extra responsibility to my daily chores and activities. I am venturing into an activity I have not done any schooling for over 30 plus years now. School is something I must learn all over again. This changes our everyday routines to a point that we all must learn to work well with this new education. I am glad that in the past I had learned great tools to work with while working on these new responsibilities. Making it great while I was getting my A.S. degree in Florida Tech College out of Orlando, FL. Back then everything was paper and pencil or pen. Now I see an all new era of schooling and especially online. I force myself to get things done early, just like I do when I need to be somewhere for an appointment. I arrive much earlier than requested so I have time to sit and plan what will be going on at this appointment. I turn that into the same here with my online class. I don't like to be late for anything even dinner at home. Work on my college activities and required assignments take on the same aspect that I apply to my personal life. Both must be taken on with kid gloves. But as long as I keep in mind the goals created for school and stick to them I should have no trouble working out any obstacles that come my …show more content…
First, plan to practice the relationship in my education. I must approach my experience with the online classes with kid gloves. I have found I can really mess things up online if I don’t read everything before moving on to the next item. I have to learn the best way to do school work that makes online classes a breeze. My relationship in this education will determine my outcome and I plan to make the best score I possibly can. Anything less will not be good enough for me. I know that there are things due on certain dates, but if I can work on them before and have them finished properly early will allow me to go back and check on it with time to spare. Secondly, most importantly, my personal responsibility will not change just because I am going to school. All I can do it to make sure the people involved in my personal life knows what to expect from me with my added responsibility with my education. As my personal life is in auto pilot, so should my education life be. Responsibility is the key to basic life skills. While I grew up I had learned these skills the hard way. Reading more about these skills has refreshed my memory to some new and or old ideas. Most what you read is redundant and can be put aside while the important facts are put in

Personal responsibility is an essential element in every aspect of one’s life. What exactly does personal responsibility mean; the answer is most likely different for everyone. Chuck Gallozzi may have summed it up best when he stated, “Responsibility is not a burden, it is a blessing” (Gallozzi, 2009, title page). Those nine simple words speak volumes in that taking responsibility or holding oneself accountable, answerable, for their actions or inactions, accepting the consequences that result from those actions or inactions and most important, understanding the effect one has on family, friends, loved ones, coworkers, and classmates. Gallozzi went on to say, “No, we are not responsible for all that happens to us, but we are responsible for how we think, feel and act when they happen” (Gallozzi, 2009, Para 1).…

One of the most important first steps is to learn about time management. Learning the strategies of a good time management system and applying them ultimately will benefit the student tremendously. Stanford (n.d.) states that time management skills will help students manage their goals effectively which will assist them in completing homework assignments on schedule and prepare for examinations. Students will have to monitor their time and adjust it accordingly for studies and assignments. While monitoring my time, I found it helpful in selecting the best times to study and complete my homework assignments. It is suggested that students spend at least two hours studying for every hour of class time. I personally plan on following this rule to give me adequate time to complete my assignments. Every student is different, but he can find a time management system that works best to balance school, work, and family. The planning system utilizing a list with prioritizing tasks as “A”, “B”, or “C” along with an “Outlook” calendar seems to work best. Students also need to learn how to set goals and to incorporate their short- term, mid-term and long-term goals into their academic lives. This will allow them to recognize how necessary their short-term goals are and how they affect their long-term goals. One cannot achieve long-term goals without first succeeding in their short-term goals. They go hand in hand. For example, a long-term goal is to get a BA degree, but I cannot accomplish this without first having success in my short-term goal of attending all classes and completing all work assignments on time. For success in another long-term goal of good health, I would need to be committed to eating healthy foods and not over eat because of stress. Exercising regularly and getting enough sleep regardless of other commitments will ensure students a refreshed and…

Personal responsibility is the capability to accept and live by a standard set forth by society. Personal responsibility includes the self discipline to accept one’s own actions and the consequences those actions may return. Personal responsibility also means that when a person fails to meet a goal, they first look at them self to determine what could have been done to better meet that goal. Taking this approach keeps an individual from looking around for any reason to blame someone other than them self. According to the Personal Responsibility and Career Success (2011) article, Chris Widener points out, “We must take responsibility for our life and understand that we can, and will, achieve whatever we ourselves choose to”…

Personal responsibility means to me that each person should take responsibility for all decisions, challenges and circumstances presented in their life. We have to take accountability for what we think, do, and say. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction, and someone who caused or created it. Personal responsibility does not involve playing the blame game or finger pointing, you are now shifting responsibility from one person to the next. You cannot go looking for factors outside of yourself to blame. Personal responsibility starts with being responsible for the choices that we make and the outcomes that follow. You cannot chose to skip class on test day and blame the teacher for not allowing a retake. We sometimes fail to realize that avoiding a choice is a choice within itself and it shows that you are holding yourself accountable by choosing to make the right choice.…
