The article titled “Brazil Seen Beating US in Soybean Trade as China Buys” discusses the rising production of soybeans in Brazil. The US is currently the largest grower of the product and therefore holds a comparative advantage in trade amongst nations. Rising supply from Brazil will create competition for the business of the largest demand which is held in China. “Production in Brazil climbed 53 percent in the past decade, compared with 7 percent in the US” (Javier, Chanjaroean, 2012). In 2012-2013, Brazil is said to produce 81 million tons of soybean as compared to 77.84 million tons in the US which portrays Brazil’s comparative advantage (Javier, Chanjaroean, 2012). China has imported 59.2 tons of soybean in the year ended September 30th of which, 45 percent were produced in Brazil and 39 percent were from the US. China utilizes soybeans to create meal for livestock and fish, and to produce cooking oil. It is clear that the US is losing its competitive edge on the production and distribution of soybeans mainly because it no longer possesses the comparative advantage in production. This analysis will discuss what enables a country to rise above its competition via the creation of comparative advantage in trade.…

For this assignment I was required to film a reenactment of a scene from Shakespeare’s iconic tragedy “Macbeth”. I took the group option and teamed up with my buddies Taylor Kelsey and Jeremiah Corbett. We chose to do act 3, scene 1. In this scene Macbeth hires two assassins to perform the terrible deed of murdering Banquo and his son. We worked diligently so it only took us a few days to accomplish. We used class time to write out our lines on poster board so that we would be prepared to film when the time came. On Saturday the group met at my house with different costume pieces. After spending a few minutes putting together proper yet comical outfits, we went out on the back porch and filmed the scene. The next day Taylor edited the video at his house, making the right cuts and adding fitting background music. We were then ready to show our film to the class.…

Throughout the course of the first quarter, I realized that sophomore year is very different from freshman year. There is more time commitment, more effort, and overall more experience in learning new materials. In English during the first quarter I obtained three learning goals through specific activities. The first learning goal that I grew was acquiring and employing new vocabulary to further understandings of core texts. The activity that helped me grow this learning goal was the literary terms quiz a few weeks ago. Studying for that quiz made me learn poetic devices and literary analysis much easier to comprehend and learn throughout Othello and made reading the AP World History textbook more enjoyable by pointing out literary terms that even show up in boring textbooks. This learning helped me grow a Habit of the Mind which is persisting. This was significant because though Othello may be interesting enough, using these literary analysis terms while reading my AP textbook and even the Chemistry textbook, helped me improve my English skill while learning to persisting in reading the history textbook assignments that are due.…

What if the places we think are safe, were no longer the sacred places of bliss we frequently run to? History has shown us that maybe, perhaps we are never truly safe anywhere. Dudley Randall’s Ballad of Birmingham intricately tells us how quickly are illusions of are false sense of security can be shattered in the blink of an eye. Randall shows us how the things we least expect can creep up on us and leave us bewildered and shocked with the situations we assume we are immune to. We will learn the characteristics of both Randall and the characters in his story. Character is defined as a person depicted in a narrative or drama. Character is revealed by how a character responds to conflict, by his or her dialogue, and through descriptions. Through all this the Ballad of Birmingham teaches us to have constant vigilance, even in places we consider sacred and out of harm 's way. Racism can touch every aspect of our lives; we can assume that we will never escape it in any form until we can overcome its adversities together as a whole.…
