College Football National Championship Game Analysis
On Monday evening January 11th, I watched the 2015 College Football National Championship between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Clemson Tigers. The three “values” I saw from this game were: preparation, competiveness, and motivation.

Both teams valued preparation because they had to be ready both athletically and mentally for what may be the biggest game of their college career.

Both teams were very competitive the entire game which resulted in a back and forth close game with the final score being 45-40 Alabama.

Both teams were motivated to play with the National Championship on the line. This was evident by how hard both teams played.

It's early October on the grounds of the University of Kansas where barren trees; swaths of dormant, beige grass; and the pale, limestone buildings have created a monochromatic tableau that looks like a picture in an old, yellowed newspaper. Amongst the landscape of what could look like cathedrals lies a building that brings many students to their feet in anticipation of what will happen. Indeed, arriving for a game at Allen Fieldhouse can feel like preparing to rummage through the dusty archives of college basketball. But after a 2005 renovation, there's nothing musty about the newly developed structure. And with one of the best teams in the NCAA holding court inside, Allen Fieldhouse is all about the traditions that…

The end of the NCAA Division I college football seasons is near and there are still five undefeated teams in the nation, how can five teams play for top honors in the sport? The answer is easy, a football playoff system to crown the champion. The Bowl Championship Series (BCS) formula has been used to determine the top twenty-five teams in NCAA Division I college since 1998. Many think this system is inadequate and should be changed. The alternative is a playoff system that would give more of the top teams a chance to be named the NCAA football national champion. A playoff system would give the NCAA Division I football postseason a little more than twenty meaningless bowl games and a national championship game to wrap up the season, but to get to that I should first explain how the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) formula works to determine the top twenty-five teams in the nation.…

March is one of the craziest, fun-filled, exciting months of the year, especially for people who love basketball. St. Patrick’s Day arrives, the warmth is just starting to come back; but that is not the best part, it’s all the March Madness. The NCAA Basketball Tournament brings happiness, laughter and upsets to some people and teams. Every Division 1 Basketball team in the country plays to eventually make it to the Sweet Sixteen on the bracket, in hopes of being the new NCAA Basketball Champions. Some teams struggle, while others come out on top. “The Game That Saved March Madness” written by Sean Gregory, Time staff writer who has been writing about sports for about a decade, and Alexander Wolff, a writer for Sports Illustrated, talks about the legendary game between the Georgetown and Princeton Men’s basketball teams in 1989 that saved the tradition of what is known as March Madness today. This game meant so much to the NCAA and fans who love the game of basketball because it was somewhat of a rebirth for college basketball. They talk about how Princeton, who was a number 16 seed in their division, played extremely well and almost won the game against the number 1 seed, Georgetown. Even though they fell one point short in the last few seconds, they made history and brought this tournament back to life because never has a seed that low in a division ever put up that great of a game against a top team in the country. People who like basketball should read this article because Gregory and Wolff give the history of March Madness and they interest the reader with intricate details of this event.…

Dedication was what allowed the Texas Miners to win a National Championship. If it wouldn’t have had dedication I didn’t think they would even make it to the Final Four. I think that one player really represented a lot of Dedication, Neville Shed. He had a lot of dedication. He and David Lattin were the only ones who stayed when the others went to drink. They did this because they wanted to have a good practice and be sober on the morning. He also showed dedication when he started practicing a lot when coach Haskins told him he didn’t need him anymore. He even wore a face mask to protect his broken nose to still play.…

The popularity of Southwestern University’s football program under its new coach, Bo Pitterno, surged in each of the 5 years since his arrival at the Stephenville, Texas, college With a football stadium close to maxing out at 54,000 seats and a vocal coach pushing for a new stadium, SWU president Joel Wisner faced some difficult decisions. After a phenomenal upset victory over its archrival, the University of Texas, at the homecoming game in the fall, Dr.Wisner was not as happy as one would think. Instead of ecstatic alumni, students, and faculty, all Wisner heard were complaints. “The lines at the concession stands were too long”. “Parking was harder to find and farther away than in the old days” (that is, before the team won regularly); “Seats weren’t comfortable”. “Traffic was backed up halfway to Dallas”; and on and on. “A college president just can’t win,” muttered Wisner to himself.…
