Game over College football games were a staple in the video game world. It was a title that had a sequel every year, and every year the sequel would improve upon the core mechanics. However, unpaid college football players were becoming upset with the game utilizing their likeness. For Electronic Arts or EA to make another game the players would have to receive compensation. To produce another college football game would require paying over 12,650 for using their likeness, then the game would at the very least need to break even, and some players would demand more. While there would be many fans excited for the game, it would not be a breakthrough. Many great games that yield higher revenue had hours of gameplay and compelling stories. An illustration of this would be Grand Theft Auto V. The game had over 100 hours of gameplay following three characters with their own strengths, weaknesses and flaws. A football game on the other hand is difficult as its core gameplay is the sport. Features can be added such as creating your own character, managing a team, or playing a season. However, for many people this will grow stale rather quickly. Once a game loses its player base, it goes downhill from there. It is impossible to satisfy everyone. Thus so, there will be many players who are unhappy with the payment they’re given. People are greedy and players would demand more for using their likeness similar to how popular actors are paid more. And as with all games, lawsuits are bound to happen despite any precaution to avoid them. College football games were a tradition in the gaming world. It was expected for a sequel to release every year with improved graphics, gameplay, and features. Nevertheless, if you are renowned for something, never do it for free.
