College Choice Research Paper
Texas A&M University-Commerce is a good college choice for me because of the following reasons: location, major, and application process. These are the most important aspects I consider when choosing what school I would like to attend. Location is important because traveling between home and school can be costly and TAMUC is the perfect distance from home. I currently reside in Cedar Hill, TX with my family and that is approximately an hour and thirty minutes from TAMUC. This is ideal for me because it is close enough to where I can get home easily without spending much money but still far enough from home where I can still feel a sense of independence. Whether a school has my major is also significant and to what extent they have my major.

This school has a very friendly environment, and that is rare seeing how sizable the school is and the variety of people that there are. Texas A&M is the fifth biggest school in the country, and from multiple sources it has been said to have a huge sense of togetherness. Another reason to go here is that it is very well known and I would take great pride in being an Aggie. It also is less expensive than a lot of colleges in Texas.…

It is filled with primary traditional students who have some type of family connection to the college (Birnbaum, 1988).…

This is a really sad fact in the U.S. right now and its due mostly to the fact of colleges, instead of competing with other schools in prices and tuition rates, compete in having the nicest looking campus and the most amount of student services. Doing this is actually driving the rates of most colleges up and without reform, many citizens in the U.S. won’t even have higher education as an option to them.…

What does college success me to me? To me it means a lot of things such as graduating with at least a B average without dropping out or failing any of my classes but most importantly it means that I walked away with something important. If you fail, you are still successful as long as you know that you tried your best, and did whatever it took to get there even if you didn’t fully succeed. Success is getting everything you want or need in life by working your hardest and trying your best and not doing anything meaningless. When all the goals that I had set for myself have been fulfilled, then I can say that my time at college was truly a success. College success means to me more than just grades in college, it also means that I used my time wisely and took my education seriously, trying the hardest I possibly could, and being productive. Trying to get as much knowledge I can get out of it so I can apply it to day to day issues or work being done . You gain experience in a lot of different stuff. You want to know what your field contains and you want to have the full college experience. The reason I why I am attending college here at NOVA is because so I can get a good education and a transfer to 4 year college to finish my college education. While I am getting an education, I want to obtain a degree so I can be able to obtain a good paying job that I know and will enjoy doing for the rest of my life. That is my take on college…

Being accredited is how an institution is recognized as a university having a legitimate degree program. The value of the degree you receive is based upon accreditation, college ranking, and the perception of the institutions image in organizations and society. As my problem statement I would like to find out what the value of accreditation is, what it takes to become accredited, maintain accreditation, and why some degrees from accredited institutions are not recognized by other institutions and business organizations. Some research objectives I would like to achieve would be to find out if the loss of credits in the transfer from school to school is due to different accreditation standards in the different accreditation organizations. Also, with comparing accredited schools, does the rank of the school make the degree received more or less valuable? Another objective is to find out what makes a degree from one accredited school more valuable than a degree from another accredited school. And finally, I would like to find out if a degree from a non-traditional school is less valuable than a degree from a traditional “Brick and Mortar” school. To solve my problem statement and answer my research objectives I will be conducting exploratory research using secondary data.…
