These type of hours prevent athletes to being able to work on school. Many colleges even have restrictions on how many hours players can work, if they was to find time to get a job. If colleges can dedicate how much and when athletes can work, so why athletes shouldn’t get paid for their time? Often times, scholarships pay for housing to meal plans. “Paying for athletes is unnecessary” (Bargaria). If it wasn’t for college athletes, how would colleges get their money for sports? If colleges was paying college athletes, they have raised enough money for tuition, and colleges could also drop less profitable sports. These sports are like tennis and golf. Even though some teams win championships, rings and titles doesn’t mean that there are going to have no worries about getting through school. Anyway, the average college scholarship doesn’t cover the average cost of college. Eventually since some prices go up every day or tax, the athletes are not going to be able to support themselves. Another important reason athletes should get paid is injuries. An injury can end an athlete career. Approximately 70,000 college athletes get injured (Web). College athletes provide endless hours of hard work and dedication to entertain spectators, and also win games. Often times this “entertainment” is one of the causes of their injury. In some extreme injuries can cause paralysis. They do all this hard work just for a couple of dollars a month. If a college athlete is on a scholarship then that mean they going to be having to put in hard work all year for four years straight. People expect so much from athletes but the NCAA is not to pay
