Mason Cole, a freshman on the starting offensive line for the University of Michigan, doesn’t get paid to play football. Johnny Manziel, a player from the Cleveland Browns, gets paid $420,000 a year. If college athletes were paid it could be the difference between a “Big 10” college team that pays a lot or a less popular division that doesn’t pay much at all. Most people believe that college student athletes should be paid for playing a collegiate sport while going to school. Social media is reining over our lives nowadays with the glamorous lives of professional athletes fancy cars, houses, and clothes. That is every collegiate athletes goal, to play sports and make a lot of money doing it. College Athletes being paid is debatable. So, should college athletes be paid or not? If college athletes were paid there wouldn’t be nearly as much money for the sport department itself because all of the money would go to paying the players. And there would be bias from popular sports like basketball and football between the least popular sports like field hockey and swimming. The more popular sports would get more money and the least popular sports would be left hanging to dry. College coaches get paid a lot and the players see that and tend to be greedy about money. Players behavior could change ad a result of the salaries as well, and not for the better. Its not a good idea to pay college players because if ne school pays more than another they player will be faced between the school he likes better and the school that pays more.
