College Admittance Essay
Passion and perseverance for expression of creativity and imagination has led me to UW Stout’s program for Game Design and Development.

In order to successfully realize my aspirations, I will need to draw upon several key talents that I have been consistently refining. These include expression of imagination, teamwork, and leadership skills.

I have participated in many clubs and organizations in school and in my community. I have served as a Boy Scout, student council member, and Student government.

I have served my community by volunteering at the Safe Harbor Humane Society. Breast Cancer has had an enormous impact on my family, which led me to become an active participant for the American Cancer Society and the Susan G. Coleman Foundation. Our local bowling alley holds and annual event, “Bowl for the Cure”, were I have actively helped plan and organize the event.

I have enjoyed myself immensely belonging to these clubs and organizations. Each has positively contributed to my growth as a person, and has allowed me the opportunity to make many new friends.

Through my many work experiences I have had an opportunity to expand my teamwork and communication skills. In the past I worked as dishwasher at my local restaurant where I learned to work as a team to get things done more productively. Currently I am employed at Calvin Klein in the Pleasant Prairie Premium Outlets where I am sales associate where I get a large amount of communication skills with customers.

In conclusion my leadership, teamwork, communication skills, and imagination will help enrich the UW Stout

All throughout school I have participated in many clubs and organizations that have not only molded me as a person, but have helped me to develop responsibility, and leadership skills. Currently I am an active member of National Honor Society, and DECA. Both of these organizations, provided by my high school, encourage leadership, volunteer work, and have high expectations for behavior, and grades. Being in National Honor Society has shown me to continually do for others in need. There are always opportunities to get involved with the community, and even create drives for things like stuffed animals, and blankets for children who are sick in the hospital, and “Care Catties” for cancer patients, which include tissues, water bottles, hard candy, and lotion. DECA is another organization I am involved in at Frenship High School. DECA is a business organization for high school marketing students looking to learn, develop and compete in a competitive event. I have been a member since my sophomore…

I can remember all the way back to when I was a young child in elementary. I didn’t think much about the kids around me or how they lived and I can honestly say that very few kids stick out from those years maybe because it seemed to me at the time that we were all pretty much the same except for our physical appearances. What I can remember about the kids in junior high school was the need to fit in and be liked at all costs. Making fashion statements were much more important than answering the question about the meaning of life. High school though became a stepping stone into the complex and dynamic reality of the world around me that I had never investigated nor even identified. Beginning with my freshman year I encountered many more students than I ever thought I would. I started to notice quite quickly that the school population was extremely diverse and segmented. Groups were everywhere; jocks, nerds, gothic kids, trouble makers, and of course the ever present popular kids. This was the first time I could see with my own eyes the fact that we were actually quite different from each other. Kids that I had befriended in junior high slowing began to change and pull away from me for reasons that were not understandable to me at the time. In actuality, not only were they going through changes but I was going through them as well. My taste in clothes, music, sports, and my views on certain topics began to expand and diversify. Yet I started to realize that in doing so meant leaving my old friends behind and meeting new ones. My family had always been a cornerstone in my life who established my belief system as far as religion and values and therefore the perspective on the young life I had led up until that point. That upbringing enabled me to be able to compare and contrast the beliefs and ideas of others with my own and so the journey into the world of high school led me to come face to face with that very opportunity. One example which stands out in my mind…

Christendom College offers many compelling reasons that have increased my desire to attend this great school. Some of the things that I love about my high school are found at Christendom, such as its challenging, yet enriching curriculum. When looking at the list of classes that come with the curriculum as well as attending the Summer Program, it reminded me a great deal of the incredible education I have received at my High School, Saint Thomas More Academy. At Saint Thomas More the curriculum was also classical, and deeply rooted in our Catholicism. This inspires the whole class to think about the situations and messages in the themes we talk about each class, whether it was about the idea of the redemption of Charles Ryder in Brideshead Revisited or the savageness of the atomic bombs in World War II, and apply it to our lives and the people we want to become. Saint Thomas More Academy, I would say, has prepared me for the challenges and rewards that is the classical curriculum at Christendom.…

Here are some examples of my service to my community. During my 8th grade year in Elena Christian Jr. High School, both my classmates and I, we decided to do a beach cleanup. We chose the beach across from Water Gut. It was a wonderful experience because I was able to help out my community in a positive way. I volunteer and participate with the Junior Meteorology Club of Elena L. Christian Junior High School. I help with certain fundraisers such as; bake sales, car washes and collecting donations. I like to be there for people who are in need because it shows people that I am a caring and loving person. I also volunteered at the Agriculture Fair of 2010. I was helping out the Virgin Islands Police Department booth, assisting the police cadets, police officers, lieutenants and as well as the commissioner. Both my mom and I, we donated funds for Haiti at the VIPD in Frederiksted.…
