College Admissions Essay: Why I Am As A College Student
One of the most common questions I get as a college student is of course, “What are you studying?” Though some might find this frustrating or maybe even a little annoying, I think it should eventually be something we are excited about. Talking about your future and what you are working so hard for should be something you want to share. When I was in high school I was accepted into a mass media class that was associated with our news program. It was taught by Mr. Hunter Ames, who was truly an inspiration to my dreams. I obtained so much new information like how to draw out a story board and filming a movie trailer all the way to filming a mock wedding ceremony. All of those things were a blast and I enjoyed every minute of it, but I also found myself so fascinated with the way that things work. How everything falls into place and the minds that go behind making such context that create an impact on people constantly had me thinking. That small amount of time I got to spend learning about something I was truly excited about was what got me through my days. …show more content…
I am thankful I had that opportunity in high school and I am so hopeful for this new chance at Auburn University. I got to touch on a few things and now that I am in college and have gone through my Concepts in Communications and Journalism class with Dr. Susan Brinson, it has only intrigued me more. I am anticipating getting my hands into more detail throughout the Media Studies major and to find out more about what I love doing. I would be so grateful to have this opportunity to explore so much more about something I enjoy and I hope to be able to proudly tell people soon that I am a Media Studies major at Auburn

College plays a role a student’s life, one of these roles are to help get students a better job that pays them a lot but that isn’t the only reason. According to Melisa McCreery “Higher education provides a number of benefits; most notably to the nation’s economic stability and job creation, civic engagement, and pulling students from low socioeconomic situation and landing them securely in middle class America.” In other words college is to help better a student’s life as well as to help them be able to contribute to society positively. College also provides many classes that can help students achieve their full potential when they are out in the world as well and making you better understand the world. According to Robert Harris these classes are liberal arts classes. Although you might argue that you don’t need these classes for many majors by them self but Harris explains to you the benefits that taking a…

I was placed on Academic Probation after my freshmen spring semester, I went to College with a new set of freedom I never had before and did not know how to adjust to my new freedom well. I come from a very large blended family and my parents worked very hard to provide for all of us, my mom had worked multiple jobs and was trying to continue her education so she would leave for work very early and would come home very late. That left the cooking, cleaning and tending to my younger brother to me all while I was a high school student, working 2 jobs and playing softball. With all that being said when I got to college I did not focus on school because for the first time in 4 years all I had to worry about was me and that was a strange relief…

I am determined to go to college even if there are some setbacks that make harder for me to do so. For example, when I was in 10th grade I found out that I had scoliosis, and the only way that I would be able to treat it was through surgery. At the time that I had found this out, I had already planned out my sophomore year; I was going to take 2 AP classes and 2 math courses above my grade level. At the time I truly believed that I was going to be able to go through the surgery, take all my classes, and very least get decent grades in all my classes, including my AP classes. However, that semester ended up being my worst.…

I believe in opportunity. The definition of opportunity is something that you want to do, have the chance to do, or the possibility·of achieving something. When I was younger, I lived in a heavily populated town: Laredo, Texas. At the time, I was an eighth grader trying to make my mom proud by getting good grades in my classes. Seeing my mom happy was the greatest feeling in the world. My father, on the other hand, started to disappear on us. I found out that my dad had a drug problem, and my mom was filing for a divorce. I did not want my mom getting a divorce, but I knew she would be happier. My parents splitting up killed me, but it was best for my mother and me. Thinking about the divorce now, it was probably the best thing that has ever happened to me, because it offered me one thing: opportunity.…

“A college shows a man how little other people know. Education is not preparation for life, education is life itself.” During the interview with the college students or former ones, they all say that I must focus on my education if I want to pursue my dreams as a scientist or as a FBI agent. I believe that college is the best path for me after high school. This is because college can help give me a higher level education, get me a better job, and help me find my own path. After graduating in a college or a university, I want to work as a biologist, astronomer, or as a FBI agent.…

I was raised with the beliefs that there is an importance of having security in all aspects of life, whether that is financial, physical, or emotional. These were, and still are, the ultimate objectives I have for myself and every action I take and have taken has been formed around this sentiment. My parents taught me that “dreams are the touchstones of our character” and that it is important to dream big while remaining clear on goals and realistic with decisions. On the path to deciding my future, their advice remains with me and assists in establishing myself in the goals that I have set.…
