When I first heard of the “The Successful Student” I thought of some boring book that all teachers read so that they can prepare themselves for telling all students that they have some type of potential in our academic careers. I pictured a dull, thick text book filled with words that make no sense and questions that have no meaning. When you explained to us that The Successful Student was process that you created to help us succeed in the classroom but also also outside of school, I still had the dull textbook embedded in my mind. It was hard for me to shake this image. It wasn't until I looked back at my notes, especially the quotes, when I realized that The Successful Student was not a book or a physical thing. To be a successful student, you need to be hardworking, honest, and humble. I personally believe that these are the core elements into creating a well rounded student. Being hardworking is obviously a necessity because it proves to yourself and others that you are doing the best of your ability. Doing your absolute best is all that is needed to show others that you care and that you are dedicated. Being honest and humble go hand-in-hand. A student’s success is hard to define because every individual has different ideas of what is success. Students usually think of success as getting a passing grade, but the schools could define it as students getting a high GPA, and a good citizenship grade, along with a lot of other standards. But schooling, let alone education, shouldn’t be focused on grades. Rather, it should be based on the life lessons learned from the subjects taught. Life lessons could include study habits, confidence to participate, and being punctual to class or job meetings in the future. A student’s success also can’t be forced by any type of authority and should be approached from a less traditional angle. The students are primarily responsible for their success…

Times have changed and yet an employed woman is looked down upon. Many girls dream about having a bright future only to see it shatter once they become older and their opportunities are seized. I am planning on attending a community college to receive my two years of general education and then graduate to a university to major in physical therapy. I have excelled in high school, will continue to do so in college, and be able to graduate from college.…
